    • A radio access network (RAN) may transmit on a plurality of channels, each channel made up of a plurality of subcarriers. Each subcarrier defines a sequence of frames, each frame respectively defining a sequence of time slots. The RAN may transmit symbols in each time slot at at least a nominal power level on each of the subcarriers. The RAN may also determine a subcarrier that is likely to cause adjacent carrier interference between a first wireless device and a second wireless device. The RAN may also transmit null symbols in a first time slot of an initial frame on the determined subcarrier with a power level less than the nominal power level. Additionally the RAN may transmit subsequent symbols with the respective power level of each of the subsequent symbols is successively increased for each subsequent timeslot, for at least the duration of the initial frame.

    • A communication system provides a wireless communication session to a user device over a forward link and a reverse link. A wireless network determines that drop notification and protection is effective for the session and detects session loss on the reverse link. The network transfers a session loss indication to the user device to over the forward link and transfers a protection notice to the other communication end-point. The user device receives the session loss indication over the forward link and notifies the user. The user device transfers recovery probes over the reverse link. The method includes transferring data in a series of frames to the wireless access node over a reverse link portion of the wireless link, where each frame comprises a series of subframes, and transferring a present frame at a first power level. The method also includes, during transfer of the present frame at the first power level, monitoring control information transferred by the wireless access node on a forward link portion of the wireless link, and in response to receiving a power change instruction in the control information, interrupting transfer of the subframes of a present frame at the first power level and restarting transfer of the subframes of the present frame at a second power level.

    • What is disclosed is a wireless access system. The wireless access system includes a wireless access control system configured to maintain an available pool of Media Access Control Identifiers (MAC IDs) for subsequent use by a base station, remove a portion of the MAC IDs from the available pool, and use the portion of the MAC IDs for wireless communications between a wireless transceiver of the base station and a plurality of user devices. The wireless access control system is configured to determine that the available pool of the MAC IDs is insufficient, and in response, select a set of the user devices based on at least wireless signal strength. The wireless transceiver of the base station is configured to instruct the selected set of the user devices to not use the base station for the wireless communication, and in response, the wireless access control system is configured to return ones of the MAC IDs used by the selected set of the user devices to the available pool.

    • Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for selecting a carrier frequency mode based on wireless device mobility. In a particular embodiment, a method comprises, in a wireless access node, providing wireless communication access to a plurality of wireless communication devices over a plurality of carrier frequencies. The method further provides determining a mobility level of the plurality of wireless communication devices and selecting one of a first communication mode or a second communication mode for at least one of the plurality of carrier frequencies based on the mobility level, wherein the first communication mode allows full wireless access functionality and the second communication mode allows less than full wireless access functionality. The method further provides exchanging communications on the at least one of the plurality of carrier frequencies using the one of the first communication mode or the second communication mode that is selected.
