摘要： An ink absorber is housed inside a housing of an ink tank and is capable of retaining ink. The ink absorber has an outer surface equal to or corresponding to a shape of an internal surface of the housing and is made of a fiber material obtained by compressing a fiber body and thermally molding at least a surface thereof. An ink tank is comprised of the ink absorber and the housing. An ink jet cartridge is comprised of the ink tank and a print head. The ink absorber has an outer surface equal to or corresponding to a shape of an internal surface of the housing before being inserted into the housing. The ink absorber comprises a fiber material, and is formed by compressing a fiber body and thermally molding at least a surface thereof.

摘要： An ink jet recording head, which can be used in a recording apparatus, is manufactured by preparing a first base plate provided with an energy generating structure for generating energy to discharge ink, preparing a second base plate provided with a discharge opening plate member on which are to be formed ink discharge openings for discharging the ink and recessed portions for forming ink flow paths, the ink flow paths being communicated with the discharge openings, and applying an ink repellant treatment on a surface of the discharge opening plate at a side where the ink is to be discharged in at least an area where the discharge openings are to be formed. The discharge opening is formed on the discharge opening plate by irradiating a laser beam on a rear surface of the discharge opening plate at the opposite side from where the ink is discharged, and the first base plate and second base plate are connected so that the energy generating structure and recessed portion face one another to form the ink flow paths.

摘要： A method of manufacturing a recording head for use in an ink jet head involves providing a discharge port formation member having a surface in which orifices are to be formed, treating a discharge port face of the discharge port formation member with a water-repellent material, and forming orifices by applying radiation from a pulsed laser beam to the discharge port formation member which has been treated by the material having a water-repellent property, so that forming the orifices creates byproducts. The method also involves sticking at least once a tape having an adhesive layer against the discharge port face of the discharge port formation member against at least peripheral portions of the orifices having the byproducts created in the orifice forming step sticking thereto and deposited therein, and peeling the tape therefrom.
