    • A laser processing method which can reduce the chipping generated when a plate-like object to be processed formed with a modified region is turned into small pieces in steps other than its dividing step.In a part 50 extending along a line to cut in an object to be processed 1, laser light L is oscillated in a pulsing fashion in an intermediate portion 51 including an effective part 41, and is continuously oscillated in one end portion 52 and the other end portion 53 on both sides of the intermediate portion 51. Since the laser light intensity becomes lower in continuous oscillation than in pulse oscillation, modified regions 71, 72, 73 can be formed in the intermediate portion 51 but not in one end portion 52 and the other end portion 53. This keeps the modified regions 71, 72, 73 from reaching the outer face of the substrate 4, thus making it possible to prevent particles from occurring when forming the modified regions 71, 72, 73.

    • A step down DC-DC converter is reduced in the cost by reducing a number of capacitors included. The DC-DC converter is provided with switches that connect (n−1) capacitors in parallel with each other and switches that connect the capacitors in series with each other. In phase 1, some switches are turned on to connect the capacitors in parallel between an output terminal and a ground voltage so that the capacitors are charged. In phase 2, other switches are turned on to connect the capacitors in series between the output terminal and an input voltage so that the capacitors are discharged. A stepped down output voltage, that is 1/n times of the input voltage, is obtained by alternating the phase 1 and the phase 2 until a stable state is reached.

    • A motor controller includes: an estimated temperature calculating section that calculates and stores an estimated temperature of a motor, and a control section that can perform a drive control of the motor only when this estimated temperature is not larger than a predetermined value. When the motor is stopped, a second temperature gradient while the temperature of the motor decreases from a stop-time temperature to a predetermined first set temperature is stored in correspondence to the stop-time temperature. The first temperature gradient corresponding to the estimated temperature at a time when the motor is stopped is calculated by using the first temperature gradient storing means, if the estimated temperature stored in the estimated temperature storing means when the motor is stopped is larger than the first set temperature. The estimated temperature stored in the estimated temperature storing means is updated according to a lapse of a stopping time of the motor by using the first temperature gradient calculated by the first temperature gradient calculating means.

    • A conventional inverting amplifier has a problem that an oscillation may be induced depending on a structure of an internal amplifier. This invention offers an inverting amplifier having a multi-stage amplifier that is provided with a first transistor that amplifies an input signal, a second transistor that amplifies an output signal of the first transistor, a third transistor that amplifies an output signal of the second transistor and an internal feedback resistor that feeds back an output signal of the third transistor to an output node of the first transistor. With the structure described above, a required gain can be set without inducing oscillation, because a gain of the multi-stage amplifier composed of three-stage transistors can be reduced.
