摘要： This invention is a process for the preparation of an epoxide which comprises contacting a 2-haloalkyl or 2,3-dihaloalkyl carbonate, bis(2-haloalkyl- or 2,3-dihaloalkyl)carbonate, or 2-haloalkyl or 2,3-dihaloalkyl ester dissolved in a water-miscible alcohol with a sufficient amount of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide to provide at least one equivalent of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide per equivalent of ester or carbonate, at a temperature of between about 0.degree. C. and 70.degree. C. under conditions such that an epoxide is prepared.

摘要： Novel (halo)(hydroxy)-substituted phosphorus-containing acid derivatives are disclosed. Preferred compounds are 2-halo-3-hydroxypropyl ester derivatives of phosphorous and phosphoric acid formed by reaction of at least some amount of tertiary butyl glycidyl ether with a halogenated derivative of a phosphorus-containing acid followed by acid dealkylation of the product. The polyol products are useful in the production of polyurethane articles such as foams having increased resistance to the effects of fire.

Polymeric condensation resins are prepared by allowing the polyhydroxyl polyethers to react with polyfunctional chain-forming compounds containing functional groups reactive with the hydroxyl groups of polyhydroxyl polyethers. The polyhydroxyl polyether compounds enhance the flame-retardant properties of polymeric condensation resins such as polyurethanes.

摘要： Included is a process to prepare a halogenated phosphorate-containing product comprising serially contacting (a) a triol with a phosphorus trihalide, (b) a halogenating agent and (c) an oxirane, under conditions sufficient to prepare the halogenated phosphorate-containing product.
