摘要： Multi-component composite coating compositions are provided which comprise a base coat deposited from a pigmented film-forming composition and a transparent top coat applied over the base coat in which the transparent top coat is deposited from a film-forming composition comprising one or more ungelled chain-extended organic polysiloxanes having reactive functional groups, and one or more curing agents having functional groups reactive with the functional groups of the polysiloxane. Additionally provided is a process for applying the multi-component composite coatings described above to a substrate. Substrates coated with the above-described multi-component composite coating compositions are also provided.

摘要： An aqueous resinous dispersion and a method of coating employing the aqueous resinous dispersion are disclosed. The aqueous resinous dispersions are solubilized with base and comprise an acrylic polymer containing N-ethoxymethylacrylamide or methacrylamide moieties and an epoxy resin. The dispersion is useful for coating metal containers particularly as a coating for the interior of containers which are used for alcoholic beverages, for example, beer cans.

摘要： A process of making modified epoxy resins wherein a polyepoxide resin is reacted with a mercaptan compound of the formula HS--R--(COOX).sub.m wherein R is an organic radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, X is hydrogen or a moiety formed by reacting the carboxyl group with a basic compound to form its salt and m is an integer of from 1 to 5. The compounds are reacted in the presence of a tin catalyst to produce resins of the structureB [--S--R--(COOX).sub.m ].sub.nwherein B is the residue from the ring opening reaction of an epoxide group on the polyepoxide resin molecule and the sulfhydryl hydrogen, R, X and m are as defined previously and n is at least 1. The aforementioned resins are produced without the need of a hydrolysis step.The modified epoxy resins are useful in formulating coating compositions having excellent physical and chemical properties. The resins can be dissolved or dispersed in water to form aqueous coating compositions.

摘要： Provided is a film-forming composition substantially free of organic solvent which includes an aqueous dispersion of polymeric microparticles prepared by emulsion polymerization of a monomeric composition containing (1) at least 10 percent by weight of one or more vinyl aromatic compounds; (2) 0.1 to 10 percent by weight of one or more carboxylic acid functional polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomers; (3) 0 to 10 percent by weight of one or more polymerizable monomers having one or more functional groups capable of reacting to form crosslinks; and (4) one or more polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers. Each of (1), (2), (3) and (4) are different one from the other and at least one of (3) and (4) is present in the monomeric composition. Multi-layer composite coatings and coated substrates also are provided.

摘要： A polyurea composition, a multi-component composite coating and articles formed therefrom, and methods of forming the same are disclosed. The coating composition is formed from a reaction mixture comprising an isocyanate-functional component and an amine-functional component. The ratio of equivalents of isocyanate groups to equivalents of amine groups is greater than 1 while the volume mixing ratio of the isocyanate-functional component to the amine-functional component is capable of being applied to a substrate at 1:1.
