摘要： It is an object to decrease the number of transistors connected to a capacitor. In a structure, a capacitor and one transistor are included, one electrode of the capacitor is connected to a wiring, and the other electrode of the capacitor is connected to a gate of the transistor. Since a clock signal is input to the wiring, the clock signal is input to the gate of the transistor through the capacitor. Then, on/off of the transistor is controlled by a signal which synchronizes with the clock signal, so that a period when the transistor is on and a period when the transistor is off are repeated. In this manner, deterioration of the transistor can be suppressed.

A gate electrode of a transistor which easily deteriorates is connected to a wiring to which a high potential is supplied through a first switching transistor and a wiring to which a low potential is supplied through a second switching transistor; a clock signal is input to a gate electrode of the first switching transistor; and an inverted clock signal is input to a gate electrode of the second switching transistor. Thus, the high potential and the low potential are alternately applied to the gate electrode of the transistor which easily deteriorates.

摘要： There has been a problem that power consumption is increased if a potential of a signal line changes every time a video signal is applied to a driving transistor from the signal line, since the parasitic capacitance of the signal line stores and releases electric charges. In a configuration of a display portion provided with a gate signal line for selecting an input of a video signal to a pixel and a source signal line for inputting a video signal to the pixel, a switch is connected in series with the source signal line, the switch being controlled to be in on state when the pixel is not selected by the gate signal line, and in off state when the pixel is selected by the gate signal line. Accordingly, the parasitic capacitance of the source signal line which stores and releases electric charges affects only pixels between an output side of a source driver up to and including the pixel selected to be written with a video signal. Consequently, power consumed by the charging and discharging of the source signal line can be reduced, and thus low power consumption can be achieved.

摘要： By applying an AC pulse to a gate of a transistor which easily deteriorates, a shift in threshold voltage of the transistor is suppressed. However, in a case where amorphous silicon is used for a semiconductor layer of a transistor, the occurrence of a shift in threshold voltage naturally becomes a problem for a transistor which constitutes a part of circuit that generates an AC pulse. A shift in threshold voltage of a transistor which easily deteriorates and a shift in threshold voltage of a turned-on transistor are suppressed by signal input to a gate electrode of the transistor which easily deteriorates through the turned-on transistor. In other words, a structure for applying an AC pulse to a gate electrode of a transistor which easily deteriorates through a transistor to a gate electrode of which a high potential (VDD) is applied, is included.

Consequently, power consumption of the circuit can be reduced. Alternatively, a voltage applied to a transistor included in the circuit can be reduced. 摘要： To provide a circuit used for a shift register or the like. The basic configuration includes first to fourth transistors and four wirings. The power supply potential VDD is supplied to the first wiring and the power supply potential VSS is supplied to the second wiring. A binary digital signal is supplied to each of the third wiring and the fourth wiring. An H level of the digital signal is equal to the power supply potential VDD, and an L level of the digital signal is equal to the power supply potential VSS. There are four combinations of the potentials of the third wiring and the fourth wiring. Each of the first transistor to the fourth transistor can be turned off by any combination of the potentials. That is, since there is no transistor that is constantly on, deterioration of the characteristics of the transistors can be suppressed.

摘要： An object of one embodiment of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display device using the common inversion driving that allows the amplitude voltage of a scan signal on a scan line to be low. The device including a first transistor having a gate, a first terminal, and a second terminal electrically connected to a scan line, a signal line, and a first electrode of a liquid crystal element, respectively; and a second transistor having a gate, a first terminal, and a second terminal electrically connected to the scan line, a common potential line, and a second electrode of the element, respectively. An image signal is supplied from the signal line to the first electrode to subject the element to inversion driving. A common potential is supplied from the common potential line to the second electrode in synchronization with supply of the image signal.
