    • The present invention provides a terminal and base for connecting a circuit through a fusible switch. The base has a plurality of undercut prongs upstanding therefrom and an interlock snap resiliently attached thereto. The prongs are positioned on the base to prevent movement vertically and in at least one direction horizontally. The snap is positioned on the base to prevent movement in the remaining horizontal directions. The terminal includes a generally planar body made of conductive material. The body has a plurality of edges adapted to insert into the undercut prongs. The terminal positions an opposing edge on the body opposite the plurality of edges. The opposing edge is adapted to abut one end of the interlock snap. The terminal includes a first and second means for electrically and mechanically connecting the terminal to the circuit.

    • A switch assembly for use with a centrifugal actuator in the start winding circuit of a dynamoelectric machine (1). The switch has a pair of electrical contacts (29, 33) contained in a pliable, bellows-like enclosure (37) for protection from foreign matter. The assembly includes a terminal board (19) having an electrically conductive post (28) mounted thereon and comprising one side of the switch. A second contact, comprising the other side of the switch, is directly above the first and is surrounded by an electrically conductive cap (32). The cap is affixed between the ends of an electrically conductive, cantilevered switch arm (16) which is biased against a vertically rigid, horizontally adjustable stop (45). The stop has one end rigidly mounted to the terminal board and its other end above and in contact with the switch arm where the cap is affixed to the arm. The bias is caused by the switch arm support structure at the fixed end being attached to the terminal board at an angle. Moving the end of the stop contacting the arm toward the support structure, decreases the gap between the switch contacts, while moving the end of the stop towards the free end of the switch arm increases the gap.

    • A cover for a leaf switch comprises a cover body having defining a space which receives contact elements of the leaf switch. The cover body engages with a movable contact element to allow the leaf switch to be actuated as a result of movement of the cover body and receives a fixed contact element. The fixed contact element is kept still when the movable contact element is moved together with the cover body. The arrangement described had been found to be effective in preventing or reducing contamination of the contact elements of the leaf switch by dust.

    • A getter body for use in encapsulated electrical components is of the type consisting of a powder mixture which has been compressed into tablet form. The powder mixture contains in addition to traditional getter material such as activated carbon, zeolite or the like, aluminum stearate and a binder containing a synthetic such as a polyamide. The getter body is produced in several sequential steps. The getter material is mixed with a polycarbonate or a water glass solution, which is then dried and then pulverized. To this first powder is added the aluminum stearate and the binder containing a synthetic. The resulting powder may then be dried and is then pressed into tablets. The tablets may then be heat-cured and are then surfaced polished. The resulting tablets have good abrasion resistance without a noticeable loss in the getter effectiveness.

    • A high current shorting switch wherein relatively movable contacts are surrounded by a flexible bellows which forms a hermetically sealed chamber, within which the contacts are disposed. The contacts are supported on heavy current carrying supports which terminate in two large end plates. Insulated holes are formed in one of the end plates which engage rods extending from the other plate to provide guidance for relative movement of the two end plates. An annular ring is disposed within the flexible bellows to prevent or limit current flow through the flexible bellows. The flexible bellows are coated with a protective coating which substantially increase the life of the bellows. The contact surfaces are preferably formed from a material having good weld break characteristics, such as copper bismuth while the contact supports and the end plates are formed from a material which is a good electrical conductor, such as copper. The high current, low voltage shorting switch is particularly adaptable for use in service with electrochemical cell switching for handling voltages of around 5 volts and current up to 5,000 amperes, singly. In combination a plurality of the disclosed shorting switches can carry any desired current.
