    • A reed relay wherein the coil and switch terminals are disposed generally in planes parallel to the axis of the relay. A bobbin is molded onto a switch consisting of glass-enclosed contacts with leads projecting therefrom. Coil terminals are molded integrally with the flanges of the bobbin. The coil leads are connected to one side of the terminals which are then bent into notches in the flanges. The switch terminals are formed alternatively by bending them into notches in the bobbin flanges to project at right angles to the axis of the bobbin or by laying a separate terminal in the bobbin and welding the terminals to it. A housing is molded around the bobbin and the respective coil and switch terminals are bent into an in-line position.

    • A buried reed, extra-short pulse width pulser is an extra fast rise and fall time short pulse width pulser with very high voltage output. A typical pulser may have a 10 picosecond rise and fall time, a 500 picosecond flat top time, and up to a 1000 volt output. The output impedance of the pulser is normally 50 ohms. A reed switch provides switching between a center conductor of a charged line and an output line to provide the output pulses. The reed switch is buried within the pulser forming an integral part of the center conductors.

    • A movable magnetic armature of a size to nest within stepped faces on a fixed magnetic pole piece and on the armature support, respectively, is attached to the armature support by a conductive spring member which normally biases the armature away from the nested position in which it contacts a contact and stop member on the fixed pole. Imposition of the magnetic field causes the armature to move into closed contact position. The position of the armature even when in open contact position is close to the steps of the fixed pole piece as well as the armature support providing a low reluctance, short throw, quick action switch.

    • A linear mercury-wetted switch is housed within a hollow, elongated, sealed, cylindrical tube having a pair of mercury-wetted, spaced contacts which can be bridged by a conforming but spaced electromagnetically driven contact element in the form of a slider or armature which slides longitudinally inside the tube on the mercury on the surfaces of the contacts. The slider has a conductive surface for closing the electrical circuit through mercury films carried on and between the surfaces of the slider and the contacts. The slider does not go to the end of the cylinder to contact the end wall. The contacts and the armature are of conforming contour of appropriate dimensions in cross-section so that they slide one within the other. The usual armature slips over the exterior of the contacts. The envelope can also be an electrode connected to the armature by a layer of mercury and the armature can ride upon the support provided by the mercury riding on the interior of the sealed tube. Fluid damping and magnetic positioning prevent end wall contact.

    • A reed switch relay includes an elongated bobbin surrounding a reed switch having a pair of axially extending leads. Supporting members extend longitudinally from opposite ends of the bobbin for mounting the bobbin to a circuit board, and resilient members for retaining the leads of the reed switch are integrally molded into the supporting members. The leads of the reed switch are bent downwardly and engage the resilient retaining members with a snap action. The downwardly extending ends of the leads protrude from the retaining members and serve as connecting pins for mounting the relay assembly to a circuit board or a socket.
