    • A bearing assembly for an axially mobile cylinder in a printing press is provided. The bearing assembly includes an endpiece adapted so as to be mounted on a frame of the press and defining a central axis and a bearing arrangement for bearing a cylinder on the endpiece in rotation about the central axis and in translation along the central axis. The bearing arrangement includes a first bearing which is a radial bearing, notably an exclusively radial roller or needle bearing, and a second bearing which is either an axial/radial combined bearing or an only axial bearing. The second bearing is adapted so as to be fixed or attached with respect to the cylinder and connected to the endpiece via an axial spring with elasticity along the central axis. The second bearing is axially mobile with respect to the endpiece.

    • A stroke bearing is able to perform relative motion along a prescribed path by itself without requiring the providing of a stopping device that prevents a ball and cage assembly from falling out on the apparatus. In a stroke bearing having an outer sleeve and a shaft fit together by means of a ball and cage assembly, by, for example, fitting a bushing into said outer sleeve, providing a guide groove on this bushing, and having a pin make sliding contact with said guide groove, said stroke bearing is able to perform relative motion along a prescriber path. In addition, the ball and cage assembly can be easily prevented from falling out by a stop ring acting in the manner of a range limiting device that limits the range of said relative motion.

    • A ball guide (1) has a cage (6)which is produced by coiling a strip (8). The strip (8) is pre-manufactured and includes apertures (9) to retain balls (7), for the guidance of exterior component (2) and shaft (4) relative to each other. The side edges (15) and (16) of the strip (8) are discontinuously joined with each other by spot welds. The cage (6) can additionally be equipped with a backup ring (17). The backup ring (17) is supported by the face area (18) of the cage (6). The backup ring support surface (21) serves as a contact surface for a compression spring (19). The other end of the spring is supported by the support surface (20) of a shoulder ring (22) to return the cage (6) to a center or home position. Through the use of a strip (8), the cages (6) may be produced in different diameters and lengths through a simple process.

    • A bearing assembly for a continually variable cone-pulley belt drive transmission includes a primary shaft defining a conical pulley that is rotatably mounted, and an axially displaceable conical pulley that is movable along the axis of the primary shaft. A secondary shaft rotatably mounted parallel to the primary shaft defines an axially nondisplaceable conical pulley and an axially displaceable pulley movable parallel to the axis of the secondary shaft. The pulleys on the primary and secondary shafts are drivably connected by an endless drive belt that engages the pulleys on the shaft at a variable radius, whereby the secondary shaft is driven at a variable speed with respect to the primary shaft. The primary and secondary shafts are mounted in the casing of the transmission by a fixed bearing and a loose bearing. The fixed bearing on the primary shaft has its outer race easily displaceable by an axial-linear guide in the form of a group of ball bearings carried in a bearing cage.
