    • A toolbox latch is disclosed having a pivoting handle mounted to a housing and mechanically linked to a pusher arm for setting in motion a series of linkages to trap and release a cooperating striker pin. The pusher arm rotates a swiveling trip lever when a turn-key member is first rotated into an unlocked position and the handle pulled in a pivoting motion away from the housing. The swiveling trip lever in turn rotates a rotating link member out of its locking position with a rotating lock lever, allowing a biasing spring on the rotating lock lever to rotate out of its trap position. The cooperating striker pin is thus freed from the trap position as the rotating link member disengages with the rotating lock lever and the latch is open. When the cooperating striker pin is brought back into proximity with the rotating lock lever as the toolbox is being closed, the force of the striker pin rotates the rotating lock lever back to the trap position, and a biasing spring returns the rotating link member back into engagement with the lock lever to prevent the lock lever from releasing the striker pin.

    • An automotive door handle assembly includes an escutcheon sized to fit in a door aperture; a handle pivotally mounted on the escutcheon; a fastener device extending rearwardly from the escutcheon; and a clip of U-configuration having a bight portion and upper and lower leg portions extending forwardly from opposite edges of the bight portion in outwardly splayed relation with an aperture in the bight portion fitted over the fastener device to position the clip rearwardly of the escutcheon with the leg portions extending forwardly in embracing relation to the escutcheon. A resilient cushion member is fitted between the clip upper leg portion and the adjacent surface of the escutcheon and dimples upstand from the clip lower leg portion for slidable engagement with the adjacent escutcheon surface. As the fastener device is tightened, following pivotal positioning of the handle assembly in the door aperture, the clip moves forwardly to bring clamping edge portions of the upper and lower clip leg portions into clamping engagement with the inner face of the door skin while the resilient cushion member compresses to facilitate the forward movement of the upper leg portion and the dimples on the lower leg portion slide on the adjacent escutcheon surface to facilitate the forward movement of the lower leg portion. After engaging the door skin, further tightening of the fastener device causes the free ends of the upper and lower leg portions to splay outwardly to produce a spring force to augment the mounting force exerted by the clip.

    • A lockable, slammable rotationally actuated latch assembly for use as a latching and locking mechanism on a door or panel of an enclosure or compartment has a mounting pan with a recessed draw and peripheral mounting flange. A rotatable cam shank intersects the mounting pan and has a handle attached to an end of the cam shank on the exterior side of the pan. A latch is rotationally mounted on a latch shank located on the interior side of the mounting pan and is biased into the latched position by a torsion spring. A cam is attached to an end of the cam shank on the interior side of the pan and the cam has a contact edge positioned to contact and rotate the latch upon rotation of the cam shank. An optional latch guide can also be mounted on a latch shank for guiding a striker into a striker receiving cavity formed between the latch and latch guide. A lock assembly may be mounted on the flange of the mounting pan or inside the recessed draw of the pan. The handle may also have a lock cover with a sealing gasket mounted on the interior portion of the handle so that when the handle is folded relative to the mounting pan the lock assembly is covered.
