    • An inflatable, therapeutic air mattress for use by healthcare facilities has a permanently attached shipping container with a pocket for receiving a shipping label or card. In order to ship the same to a healthcare facility, the inflatable, therapeutic air mattress is rolled up and put in the permanently attached shipping container and sent to the healthcare facility, where the permanently attached shipping container is opened, and the inflatable, therapeutic air mattress is unrolled and inflated with a pump provided with the mattress. The permanently attached shipping container fits directly underneath the inflatable, therapeutic air mattress and does not inhibit set-up or patient use. When no longer needed, the inflatable, therapeutic air mattress can be easily deflated, rolled up and placed in the permanently attached shipping container and shipped back to the provider by any means of commercial air or ground shipment.

    • The present invention relates to a multi-cell tube capable of simultaneously opening and closing a tube having a plurality of separate cells or chambers and a method for efficiently manufacturing the multi-cell tube. A primary object of the present invention is to manufacture a multi-cell tube having two or more cells, which are repeatedly formed in longitudinal and circumferential directions of the tube, in such a manner that fluid can be separately or simultaneously let into and/or out of the respective cells and the respective cells can be individually kept airtight. The multi-cell tube of the present invention for achieving the object comprises a cell unit 10 including a plurality of cells 11 which are arranged in one direction of the tube and have corresponding inlets 12 formed in a direction intersecting with the direction in which the cells are arranged; a supply tube unit 20 which has an opening/closing valve 21 at any one side end thereof and communicates with the inlets 12 of all the cells 11 in a state where the supply tube unit is close to the cells; and an operating tube unit 30, made of inflatable material (e.g. rubber, plastics or the like), which is installed within the supply tube unit 20, is close to the inlets 12 and the cells 11, and has an opening/closing valve 31 at any one side end thereof.

Signals thus generated are processed through an electronics module and passed to a solenoid valve. When the valve opens, gas from a canister is passed to a telescoping device. This in turn displaces the cushion. Thus a protective barrier is placed between the bed occupant and the floor.

    • This invention is directed to a mattress assembly for use in a sofa sleeper. The mattress assembly has a first mattress that has an inner-spring construction. Disposed above the first mattress is a second mattress that has an air bladder construction. The air bladder of the second mattress has a valve, which is located adjacent the head end of the mattress. The valve is adapted to selectively allow air into and out of the air bladder. The mattress assembly thus provides the combination of an innerspring mattress with an air mattress. The location of the valve allows the air mattress portion to be deflated properly and allows convenient access to the valve for inflation or air pressure adjustment purposes.
