    • Embodiments of the invention provide dry gaseous fluid pump apparatus comprising: a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet; at least one pump body having an internal wall defining an internal pump chamber thereof; a compression member provided within the pump chamber; and valve means being operable selectively to allow fluid to be drawn from the fluid inlet and into the pump chamber when at least a portion of the compression member is translated in a first direction and to be exhausted from the pump chamber through the fluid outlet when said at least a portion of the compression member is translated in a second direction opposite the first, the valve means being arranged to be actuated by actuator means under the control of control means to perform at least one selected from amongst the functions of allowing fluid to be drawn from the fluid inlet into the pump chamber and allowing fluid to be exhausted from the pump chamber through the fluid outlet, the apparatus comprising a linear drive assembly operable to drive the at least a portion of the compression member to and fro within the pump chamber.

    • A variable displacement compressor comprises an opening-degree adjustment valve which is disposed in a flow passage between a suction port and a suction hole communicating with a cylinder bore and variably controls the opening area of the flow passage. The variable displacement compressor is characterized in that the resistance against the movement of the valve body of the opening-degree adjustment valve in the direction of increasing the opening area of the flow passage is made to be greater than the resistance against the movement thereof in the direction of decreasing the opening area. The liquid compression at the starting of the compressor is prevented from occurring, whereby the durability and the reliability of the device can be improved and the device can exhibit excellent displacement control responsiveness.

    • An apparatus is provided and may include a compression mechanism, a valve plate having a plurality of ports, a header, and a plurality of cylinders disposed within the header. A plurality of pistons may be respectively disposed in the plurality of cylinders and may be movable between a first position separated from the valve plate and permitting flow through the plurality of ports and into the compression mechanism and a second position engaging the valve plate and restricting flow through the plurality of ports and into the compression mechanism. A chamber may be disposed within each of the cylinders and may receive a pressurized fluid in a first mode to move the piston into the second position and may vent the pressurized fluid in a second mode to move the piston into the first position. One of the chambers may include a different diameter than the other of the chambers.
