    • Customers obtain customized textile materials by selecting style, shape, size, pattern and color for an undyed textile product. Based on a selection made by the customer, the textile product is transformed by a dyeing operation performed on a single item to yield a product, such as a shirt, pants, or jacket, which has a color and pattern of his or her own choosing, in the size and style he or she desires. The process can be performed in a retail setting using a dye machine which allows the process to be viewed by the customer. Preferably, the textile material is constructed from yarns which include cationic cotton alone or in combination with natural cotton or other natural or synthetic fibers, and using anionic dyes, such as a fiber reactive dye, such that the dye is exhausted during the process and effluent from the dye machine is environmentally friendly without excess dye, salts, and alkalis.

    • An apparatus is disclosed for longitudinally compressing materials such as knit fabrics. The apparatus includes a frame with the frame having first and second spaced apart side walls. First and second drive rollers are supported between the side walls and first and second idler roller assemblies are also supported between the side walls. A first endless belt passes around the first drive roller and the first idler roller assembly and a second endless belt passes around the second drive roller and the second idler roller assembly. A fabric passing between the endless belts is appropriately longitudinally compressed thereby. The second side wall has an opening therethrough and closure means moveable between a closed and open position with respect to the opening. The first and second drive rollers and the first and second idler roller assemblies are cantilevered on the first wall when the closure means is moved to its open position and, in this manner, the endless belts can be easily removed from about the drive rollers and idler roller assemblies without disassembling the entire frame of the machine. As a further feature, first tension roller means engage the first endless belt, and second tension roller means engage the second endless belt. First support means are carried on the inner surface of the first side wall for adjustably carrying one end of the first tension roller, and second support means are rotatably carried on the inner surface of the second side wall for adjustably carrying the other end of the first tension roller means. The second tension roller means is similarly supported. Means are provided to rotate the second support means and essentially guide the endless belts back to their intended position on the respective rollers in the event such belts tend to move laterally on their rollers.

    • A process for applying indigo dyestuff on a textile substrate is described, wherein the substrate is saturated with liquid steeping liquor containing indigo dyestuff and the saturated substrate is directly passed through a first low-oxygen wet dwelling section and only thereafter is dewatered. To maximize the dyestuff yield or diffusion into the individual fibers of the substrate, a second enclosed low-oxygen wet dwelling section is defined by an essentially sealed housing which is connected to the first wet dwelling section. The substrate is initially heated in the second wet dwelling section and the substrate travels through the remainder of the second wet dwelling section for a sufficient time to permit diffusion of the dyestuff into the fibers of the still moist substrate.

    • A textile wet processing machine includes a processing chamber having an adjustable inner wall. The inner wall is adjustable to accommodate textile fabrics in cloth rope form having great variations in weight, texture, thickness, flexibility and load. The inner wall may be positioned at any position between a predetermined innermost position and a predetermined outermost position relative to the outer wall of the processing chamber. In a preferred embodiment, adjustment is accomplished by a pinion that is linearly movable on a rack. A connecting rod extends outwardly from the pinion. One end of the connecting rod is rotatably secured to the transverse shaft of the pinion and the other end of the connecting rod is secured to the inner wall. In an alternative embodiment, adjustment is accomplished by a linkage assembly that is rotatable about a transverse shaft. The linkage assembly includes a first rigid link that is fixed to and extends outwardly from the transverse shaft, and a second rigid link rotatably secured to the free end of the first rigid link at one end. The other end of the second rigid link is secured to the inner wall. A locking mechanism is provided for releasably retaining the inner wall in the desired position under the force of the cloth rope as it is circulated through the processing chamber.
