    • A method of manufacturing brake disks for front and rear wheels of a saddle-type vehicle includes steps of cutting out a disk member from a stainless steel plate member, further cutting out an intermediate portion in a diametrical direction of the disk member in a wave shape in a circumferential direction for producing an outer side disk and an inner side disk. The method also includes further steps of determining the wave portion of the outer side disk which projects to the inner side in a diametrical direction as an attaching portion, and determining the wave portion of the inner side disk which projects to the outer side in a diametrical direction as a pad sandwiching portion. The outer side disk is usable as a disk brake for the front wheel, and the inner side disk is usable as a brake disk for the rear wheel of the vehicle.

    • A clutch drum has a drum main body made of a metallic plate which is formed into a cup shape by drawing. Spline teeth for engaging with clutch plates are formed by pressing on a periphery of the drum main body. Pulsing teeth for detecting a rotational speed are formed by pressing on the periphery of the drum main body. An apparatus for manufacturing the clutch drum has a forming die onto which the drum main body is externally set in position. The forming die has formed thereon first tooth spaces corresponding to the spline teeth and second tooth spaces corresponding to the pulsing teeth. First tooth-shaped punches are provided so as to be movable radially back forth to form by pressing the spline teeth by urging the periphery of the drum main body into the first tooth spaces. Second tooth-shaped punches are provided so as to be movable also radially back and forth integrally with the first tooth-shaped punches to form by pressing the pulsing teeth by urging the periphery of the drum main body into the second tooth spaces.

    • A disc brake piston is formed from a stamping operation and is preferably constructed from stainless steel. The piston includes a hollow cylindrical body having a closed end and an open end. In one preferred embodiment, the open end is provided with a radially outwardly extending flange which defines an annular abutment surface for engaging a backing plate of a disc brake shoe. An integral boot groove is formed in the cylindrical body adjacent the open end thereof, and produces a raised portion on an inner surface of the body portion directly opposite the groove. This results in the piston having a substantially uniform wall thickness throughout the entire length of the cylindrical body. Also, the piston can include a dome-shaped recess formed in the closed end thereof, which can be provided with radial strengthening ribs.
