    • Disclosed herein is a trap for flying pests that does not require the use of chemicals and can be packaged in such a way that it can be present in public areas without being unsightly or intrusive. The trap is reusable, easy to set up, easy to clean, and easy to operate. An example trap includes a gathering vessel, fluid trap, conduit, vacuum, and timing device. The gathering vessel includes a container to hold attractant bait. One end of the conduit is coupled to the gathering vessel and the other end designed to be submerged within fluid inside the fluid trap. The vacuum is coupled to the fluid trap and removes air from the fluid trap to cause air and flies to flow from the gathering vessel, through the conduit, and into fluid inside the fluid trap. The timing device periodically activates and deactivates the vacuum.

    • An insect trap for attracting, entrapping and killing flying insects comprises a light source emitting a light suitable to attract insects, a translucent wall and a flowing trapping fluid. A distributor directs a fluid film of trapping fluid onto an outer surface of the translucent wall. The fluid film flows down the translucent wall and intercepts insects attracted by the emitted light. The insects come into direct contact with the fluid film and are trapped by the trapping fluid. Trapped insects are filtered from the trapping fluid by a removable filter. The trapping fluid is collected in a reservoir and recirculated to the distributor by a pump.

    • A trapping device includes upper lure and lower detention compartments, and a trapping mechanism. The trapping mechanism includes infrared sensors provided in the lure compartment, first and second trapdoors, and a control circuit board for receiving signals from the infrared sensors to pivotally turn the first and the second trapdoor. When an animal/insect enters the lure compartment and passes through the infrared sensors, the first trapdoor is pivotally turned from a horizontal to a vertical position to confine the animal/insect in a rear room of the lure compartment, and the second trapdoor from a horizontal to a vertical position to open a floor opening communicating the lure and the detention compartment to trap the animal/insect in the detention compartment. The second trapdoor restores to the horizontal position to close the floor opening when a preset time passed, and the first trapdoor is returned to the horizontal position 20 seconds later.

    • An automatic trap for catching cockroach independently of the size, volume or weight thereof, comprising a box with cockroach collecting cavity having an upper surface with a trap opening, at least two separate coplanar plates being provided to close said trap opening in a close position. Each plate has an electrical conducting portion connected to a control circuit which, in turn, is connected to a driving mechanism capable of being actuated to move the plates away from each other into an open position for uncovering the trap opening and providing access to the cockroach collecting cavity. When a cockroach simultaneously touches the electrical conducting portions of the plates, the portions are put into electrical contact because of the conductivity provided by the cockroach body, so that the driving mechanism is excited by the control circuit to move the plates to their open position.

    • A portable, self-sustaining, automatic device for eliminating mosquito larvae operates throughout the entire mosquito breeding season. Mosquitos are lured to lay eggs in the stagnant water contained within a breeding bowl of the device. The subsequent larvae is disposed of by tipping the bowl or uncovering a bottom bowl opening to empty the bowl of water and larvae and kill the larvae in a timed cycle before they become mosquitoes. A water reservoir supplies sufficient water to replenish the bowl throughout the season. The device is solar powered and timed to correspond to mosquito breeding cycles.
