    • A parallel processing processor for processing images including &agr; data indicative of pixel transparency. The parallel processing processor comprises: a plurality of execution units for executing in parallel arithmetic and logical operations under control of a single instruction; general purpose registers which are connected to the execution units via a data path, which input data to the execution units and which receive results of operations from the execution units; &agr; data dedicated registers which are connected to the execution units via another data path and which input data to the execution units; and a control circuit for directing data from the general purpose registers and &agr; data dedicated registers into each of the execution units under control of a single instruction. Under the instruction, the execution units admit data from the general purpose registers to carry out first arithmetic and logical operation in parallel on the admitted data and, without returning result of the first arithmetic and logical operation to the general purpose registers, receive data from the &agr; data dedicated registers to perform second arithmetic and logical operation in parallel between the received data and the result of first arithmetic and logical operation.

    • An electric power steering apparatus is composed of a wheel gear connected with a steering wheel, a worm shaft tooth-engaged with the wheel gear, and an electric motor rotatably driving the worm shaft in which a worm tooth portion of the worm shaft is formed with a compound lead. Further, the worm shaft is fixed in an axial direction by at least one locknut provided at a portion of a separate side of the electric motor. Further, one end of the worm shaft is rotatably supported through a ball bearing and is fixed by the locknut in the axial direction of the worm shaft, and the other end thereof is rotatably supported through another ball bearing or is fixed by a circlip through a disc-shaped spring in the axial direction. Furthermore, only respective outer rings of the ball bearings are further secured to a housing in which the worm shaft and the wheel gear are disposed.

    • Data is produced from asymmetrical echo data, and an MR image is reconstructed from the data thus produced. Namely, inverse Fourier transformation is performed on center echo data, thereby producing phase data. The phase data is inverted in polarity, thereby producing polarity-inverted phase data. Fourier transformation is performed on the polarity-inverted phase data in a readout direction, producing phase-correction data. Inverse Fourier transformation is performed on the asymmetrical echo data in an encode direction. The phase-correction data and the echo data are convoluted in the readout direction, thereby producing echo-data free of phase distortion. Unmeasured echo data is inferred from the convoluted data by utilizing complex conjugate property of the echo data. Inverse Fourier transformation is performed on the convoluted data and the inferred data in the readout direction, thereby producing an image free of phase distortion.
