摘要： In a retainer holding a plurality of optical transmission members at given positions, a position of an optical center of each of the optical transmission members is measured at a high measuring accuracy. In this case, a lens system forming a beam waist in its output beam is arranged so as to oppose to an end face of each of the optical transmission members, and then the output beam is input to the optical transmission member, and subsequently a position of the lens system is measured when a light intensity of a beam emanated from the optical transmission member is maximum, and thereafter a position of the optical transmission member is calculated from the measured value.

摘要： A reinforcement for reinforcing a joint at which two lengths of an optical-fiber cable consisting of at least one optical fiber are spliced by fusion welding, such that a spliced stripped part of each optical fiber and adjacent coated parts of the cable are secured to the reinforcement by an adhesive material. The reinforcement is formed of a transparent crystallized glass which has a major crystalline component consisting of Li.sub.2 O, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and SiO.sub.2 and which has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The reinforcement has a contact surface which is roughened by machining and at which the reinforcement contacts the optical-fiber cable. A strengthened layer is formed by ion exchange, on an entire surface of the reinforcement, and an adhesive layer is formed on the rough contact surface, to secure the optical-fiber cable to the contact surface, upon heating of the adhesive layer, such that the adhesive material serves to smooth the rough contact surface, and thereby renders the rough contact surface transparent.

摘要： It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved disc changer adapted to exactly detect whether a magazine storing a plurality of discs has been attached in the disc changer. When a magazine storing a plurality of discs is inserted into the disc changer, a detection arm and a lock arm both serving as moving members are moved by such an insertion. The lock arm, by virtue of the movement of itself, engages into an insertion groove provided on the backside of the inserted magazine and locks the magazine on the disc changer. The detection arm, by virtue of the movement of itself, actuates a lock detection switch. Here, since the detection arm and the lock arm are both urged by an urging spring, it becomes possible to exactly detect the attachment of the magazine by allowing the moving members locking the magazine on the disc changer to actuate the lock detection switch.
