    • A rope cleat secures a rope to a structure. The cleat has a body with opposite first and second portions joined along a longitudinal central plane. The body has a U-shaped cavity inside it tapering between a large entrance leg and a smaller exit leg, which communicate at a confluent portion. A flange is integrally attached to the body first portion. The flange is mounted against the structure through a mounting hole. The flange has an entrance hole and an exit hole spaced apart and extending through the flange. The rope is easily inserted into the large entrance hole, through the U-shaped cavity, and out the smaller exit hole. A knot is then tied to secure the rope in the cleat. The cleat has registration pins on one body portion, and corresponding registration holes on the opposite portion. The pins align the body first and second portions for assembly with a screw.

    • An inspection port is for use in connection with a panel having a mounting hole. A base ring has a circular wall with base inner and base outer surfaces. The base ring has a plurality of flexible annular ridges extending transversely outward. The annular ridges each have a diameter greater than the mounting hole diameter.A cover has a circular wall with cover inner and outer surfaces. The cover outer surface is adapted for sliding engagement with the base inner surface. The cover has a plate extending transversely across the cover. An O-ring removably seals the cover to the base ring. The cover plate can be opaque, or transparent, and includes at least one finger recess for rotating the plate. The cover can include a plurality of louvers in the plate.To latch the cover, the base ring has four key slots 90 degrees apart on the base inner surface. The key slots are each L-shaped, with an axial leg and a transverse leg. The cover has four pins 90 degrees apart on the cover outer surface. When the cover is inserted into the base ring, the four pins will engage the four key slots. Rotating the cover removably latches the cover to the base ring.To install the inspection port, the mounting hole is first cut in the panel with a standard size hole saw. A sealant compound is applied to the base ring, which is tapped into position with a mallet. The annular ridges will bend outward as they pass into the mounting hole. The outwardly bent ridges will prevent removal of the base ring.

    • A fire access port is mounted on a flammable material compartment juxtaposed with an access hole. A fire extinguisher nozzle is inserted through the fire port to suppress a fire from outside the compartment The fire port comprises a diaphragm of flexible, resilient material having a predetermined thickness extending between opposite primary and secondary surfaces. First and second transverse grooves extend across the diaphragm primary surface. The grooves have a maximum depth less than the diaphragm thickness, and a floor at the maximum depth, forming first and second frangible webs between each groove floor and the secondary surface. The frangible webs will rupture as the fire extinguisher nozzle is inserted through the diaphragm. An annular ring-like base member extends around the diaphragm. The base member extends from a proximal edge with a predetermined thickness for strength, outward to a distal edge having less thickness. A cylindrical wall extends annularly around the diaphragm for reinforcement. The diaphragm, cylindrical wall, and base member are of one-piece construction.

    • A method for producing Group 8 (VIII) metallocene or metallocene-like compounds employs a compound that includes a Cp′ anion, such as found, together with a counterion, in a cyclopentadienide or cyclopentadienide-like salt. In one embodiment, the method includes reacting a metal salt, a (Cp) compound, such as a substituted or unsubstituted cyclopentadiene or indene, and a ligand (L) to form an intermediate compound and reacting the intermediate compound with a Cp′ compound, eg., a cyclopentadienide or cyclopentadienide-like salt, where the metal salt can be is a ruthenium, an osmium or an iron halide or nitrate and L is an electron pair donor. Unsubstituted, mono-substituted as well as symmetrically or asymmetrically di- or multi-substituted metallocenes or metallocene-like compounds can be produced. In another embodiment, unsubstituted or symmetrically substituted metallocenes are formed by reacting MX2(PPh3)m with a Cp′ compound, where m=3 or 4. The method can be used to form precursors for chemical vapor deposition of thin films.
