    • The invention relates to an ultrasonic welding and cutting device for use in the manufacture of a flat-cable. The flat cable includes a plurality of wire conductors which are arranged in parallel at a given interval with respect to each other and interposed between first and second insulator films. The device has a product flow line in an upstream to downstream direction. The device comprises a horn unit including a horn melter unit that imparts ultrasonic oscillations, and a horn cutter unit. The horn melter unit and the horn cutter unit are located sequentially from upstream to downstream at a predetermined distance along the product flow line. The device further includes an anvil unit including an anvil melter unit and at least one anvil blade unit. The anvil melter unit and the at least one anvil blade unit respectively face the horn melter unit and the horn cutter unit along the product flow line, such that, when the first and second insulator films containing the plurality of wire conductors are passed between the horn and anvil units, the first and second insulator films can be fused and adhered by the horn and anvil melter units, and successively fused and cut or trimmed by the horn cutter unit and the at least one anvil blade unit, respectively along the product flow line.

    • A flat cable includes first and second insulator sheets, and a plurality of conductor elements arranged in parallel relation to one another over the length of the sheets. The first insulator sheet is provided with an adhesive layer. The conductor elements are interposed between the adhesive layer and the second insulator sheet. The first and second insulator sheets are first press-adhered under heat through the adhesive layer, and then bonded by an ultrasonic welding unit. The ultrasonic welding unit includes a horn for imparting ultrasonic oscillations, and an anvil placed in opposition to the horn. The first and second insulator sheets are bonded in the zones which extend along the length of the sheets and are located outside the loci where the conductor elements are arranged. The bonding is performed either continuously or in an intermittent manner.

    • On a floor of a building, a wiring layout of information circuits which are used by personnel who work at a plurality of blocks, has at each block outlet connectors connected to information devices at the block. An interconnection unit has primary connectors connected to extend devices e.g. telephone exchange or network controller, and secondary connectors. Wiring structures each having a plurality of wiring cables connect respective groups of the secondary connectors to respective blocks. Interconnection cables detachably and interchangeably connect the primary and secondary connectors at the interconnection unit. To enable efficient and simple re-arrangement for the information circuits, first identification signs, e.g. colors, identify blocks associated with the respective wiring cables, and at the interconnection unit, the secondary outlets connected by one of the wiring structures to one of the blocks are grouped together in space and have associated with them an identification sign which is the same as the first identification sign identifying the block to which they are connected.

    • The present invention improves the quality and productivity in a coating peeling-off process in which the coating at an intermediate portion along the length of a wire is peeled off in order to expose a conductor inside the coated wire, while enabling coatings at intermediate portions along the length of multicore wires or small-diameter wires to be peeled off.In a primary process, a heating jig 16 is brought into press contact with the upper half portion of the coating of the peeling-off designated portion at an intermediate potion along the length of coated wires 1 so as to press down the coating downwardly relative to the transverse direction of the wires, whereby a coating peeled-off portion 20 in which a part of conductors 2 is exposed is formed. Afterwards, in a secondary process, the coating of the coating peeled-off portion 20 is cut and press held at the ends thereof by cutting and peeling-off blades 13 adapted to operate from the ends of the coating peeled-off portion 2 toward the center thereof so as to remove the coating of the coating peeled-off portion 20, whereby a coating peeled-off portion 131 is formed.
