摘要： A bead lock including an insert casing and a bead spacer for providing an air passageway in a vehicle tire to be mounted on a wheel rim on which is located an insert valve and a rim lip for retention of the vehicle tire bead, the insert casing including an insert bead adapted to push against the tire bead and to hold the tire bead firmly against the inner surface of the rim lip, the inner wall of the vehicle tire and the outer surface of the insert casing defining an internal tire space to be pressurized for inflation of the vehicle tire or depressurized for the deflation of the vehicle tire via the insert valve, the tire bead and the insert bead interposed between the internal tire space and the insert valve, the bead spacer extending from the insert bead to an insert valve area corresponding in use to the insert valve location whereby to define at least one air passage for communication of the internal tire space with the insert valve, wherein the bead spacer is made of material sufficiently flexible to substantially conform to the contours of the wheel rim and sufficiently incompressible to provide the air passageway.

摘要： Described herein are methods for separating one or more analytes present in a fluid sample. The methods involve passing the fluid through a filter having a microporous material, wherein the analytes are localized near the surface of the microporous material. Additional processing steps such as hybridization and amplification can be performed once the analyte is localized. In one method, once the analyte is localized, the analyte can be detected, counted, and correlated in order to determine the concentration of the analyte in the sample. Modified microporous materials and composite materials are also disclosed that can be used in any of the methods and articles described herein. The composite is composed of a microporous material and a pigment, wherein the pigment is incorporated in the microporous material. The pigments alter the optical properties of the microporous material, which enhances the detection of analyte once it is localized. In a further aspect, various kits and articles such as filtration devices containing any of the microporous materials described herein are provided.

摘要： The present invention relates to an immunogenic conjugate comprising a carrier molecule coupled to an autoinducer of a Gram negative bacteria. The immunogenic conjugate, when combined with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, forms a suitable vaccine for mammals to prevent infection by the Gram negative bacteria. The immunogenic conjugate is also used to raise and subsequently isolate antibodies or binding portions thereof which are capable of recognizing and binding to the autoinducer. The antibodies or binding portions thereof are utilized in a method of treating infections, a method of inhibiting autoinducer activity, and in diagnostic assays which detect the presence of autoinducers or autoinducer antagonists in fluid or tissue samples.
