摘要： Blood vessels and other body lumens are expanded using an evertible braided prosthesis. The braided prosthesis is delivered to the blood vessel in a radially collapsed configuration. A leading edge of the braided prosthesis is then everted so that it expands as it is advanced through the blood vessel. Optionally, the prosthesis can be provided with a biologically active substance in order to inhibit hyperplasia or have other desired biological effects.

摘要： The present invention advantageously provides improved systems and methods for intraluminal delivery of implantable occlusive elements, particularly hydratable polymeric filaments. In particular, the systems and methods of the present invention minimize or avoid clumping or clogging a delivery catheter. This is accomplished by utilization of a reinforcing member or sheath that provides an advancing axial force along or over a length of the occlusive element. When the reinforcing member or sheath is pulled in a proximal direction, the occlusive element is advanced to a target site, which may comprise an aneurysm, vasculature of a tumor, arterio-venous malformations, fistulas, or burst blood vessels.

摘要： A mixer assembly is disclosed having a container with a closed sidewall, a closed bottom and a rim which forms an open top. The container is adapted to contain a product, such as roofing sealant, plaster or the like, to be mixed. A cover overlies the open top while a clamp detachably secures the cover to the container rim. A tubular conduit is attached to the cover so that the opposite ends of the conduit are open to the opposite sides of the cover. A stirrer assembly having a driven shaft and an agitator secured to one end of the shaft is then positioned within the container so that the agitator is solely contained within the container while the shaft extends exteriorly through the conduit and above the cover. A rotary drive, such as a drill, is then secured to the upper end of the shaft to rotatably drive the agitator and mix the product within the container.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for crossing totally to substantially occluded blood vessels by passing a redirectable wire such as a guidewire from a relatively proximal point past the occlusion within a subintimal space formed between the intimal layer and the adventitial layer of a blood vessel wall. The wire may be advanced to a point distal to the occlusion, and thereafter deflected back into the blood vessel lumen, typically using a deflecting catheter which is advanced over the guidewire after it has been positioned within the subintimal space. The deflecting catheter may include a flapper valve assembly or preformed actuator wire for redirecting the guidewire. After the guidewire is returned to the blood vessel lumen, the deflecting catheter may be withdrawn, and the guidewire may be available for introduction of other interventional and diagnostic catheters for performing procedures such as stenting.

A flow control element includes a valve that prevents airflow in the inhalation direction but permits airflow in the exhalation direction. The flow control element is guided to and positioned at the site by a bronchoscope that is introduced into the patient's trachea and used to view the lungs during delivery of the flow control element. The valve may include one, two or more valve elements, and it may be collapsible for easier delivery. A source of vacuum or suction may be used to increase the amount of fluid withdrawn from the lung tissue. A device for measuring hollow structures, such as bronchioles, and a device for removing a previously-placed flow control element are disclosed as well.

摘要： The present invention advantageously provides alternative systems and methods for severing implantable occlusive devices, particularly hydratable polymeric filaments, from delivery catheters during and/or subsequent to intraluminal delivery, advancement, and/or positioning of occluding filaments into treatment sites. One method for severing an occlusive element from an intraluminal delivery catheter comprises positioning a delivery catheter in a body lumen and advancing at least one occlusive element to a target site. Energy is then transmitted to a severing element so as to break the occlusive element at a selected location along a length thereof for its release to the target site.

摘要： An apparatus for performing emergency tracheostomies, by inserting the apparatus into the trachea of a patient, the apparatus including an air delivery tube, having a body portion, a first upper threaded end, a second lower end, and a bore extending throughout the body portion to accommodate air flow through the air delivery tube; a trocar member including a body portion insertable through the bore of the air delivery tube, with a pointed end partially protruding out of the second lower end of the tube for piercing the tracheal wall during insertion of a portion of the air delivery tube into the trachea; an extendor portion engageable to the first upper end of the air delivery tube after the tube has been inserted into the trachea, and the trocar member has been removed from the air delivery tube, for providing a point of delivering air flow through the air delivery tube into the trachea of a patient above the tracheal wall; the air delivery tube and trocar insertable in the extendor member and sealed therein when not in use.
