摘要： A plasma display device is provided which has a first substrate and a second substrate; a first electrode and a second electrode formed on the first substrate to perform sustain discharge on the first substrate; a third electrode formed on the second substrate to perform address discharge between the second electrode and the third electrode; a dielectric layer formed of a silicon oxide film in a manner to cover the first and second electrodes on the first substrate; and a discharge gas existing between the first and second substrates and having a Xe concentration within 10%±2.5%. The dielectric layer has a thickness within 10 μm±2.5 μm. The first to third electrodes constitute one pixel, and display of 1920×1080 pixels is possible.

However, further improvement of the contrast to improve the image quality has been demanded. The present invention provides a driving method of a plasma display device using obtuse-wave reset in which sustain time of an achieved potential of the obtuse-wave reset is controlled in accordance with a display ratio of a video signal.

摘要： A display apparatus includes a display panel including address electrodes and sustain electrodes crossing the address electrodes, with pixels being sandwiched between the address electrodes and the sustain electrodes. A sustain-electrode drive circuit selectively generates both sustain pulses and scan pulses and supplies them to the sustain electrodes. An address-electrode drive circuit generates address pulses based on a video signal and supplies the address pulses to the address electrodes. A control-signal generation circuit generates a control signal for controlling the sustain-electrode drive circuit to generate a selected one of the sustain pulses and the scan pulses and supplies the control signal to the sustain-electrode drive circuit. In order to display an image on the display panel, the sustain-electrode drive circuit both specifies addresses of pixels to be turned on and turns on the pixels at the specified addresses.
