    • A system and method for calibrating a multi-port S-parameter measurement device reduces the number of full calibrations necessary to characterize the multi-port S-parameter measurement device by utilizing a reciprocal network concept. The multi-port S-parameter measurement device includes a network analyzer having network ports connected to respective sets of switch ports on a switch. Full calibrations are performed on selected port pairs of the switch to determine the calibration arrays for each of the port pairs. Each port pair includes one switch port from two different sets of switch ports. A switch error having three switch error terms attributable to a reciprocal network introduced by an unselected one of the switch ports not included within any of the one or more port pairs is determined, and the switch error is de-embedded from the calibration arrays to construct a complete set of calibration arrays for all of the measurement paths in the multi-port S-parameter measurement device.

    • A system for controlling solid state lighting including a source to supply any one of a range of AC or DC voltages to a plurality of light strings. The source includes a power factor correction circuit 14 for controlling the power factor to the system and a separate transformer for each light string. The current can pass through each LED string is independently limited by each corresponding LED driver circuit. The current through each LED string can be modified according to a feedback monitor system that measures parameters such as LED characteristics, forward current, temperature, and LED output intensity/color. Each LED string has an independent sensor that monitors the voltage across each switching device in the corresponding LED driver circuits and utilizes a control unit to control the voltages supplied by each corresponding transformer through control signals in response to the monitored switching device voltages.

    • An apparatus, data structures, and method are provided for prioritizing data transmissions within a network. As applied to a switching station in a network, the method prioritizes transmissions from the network to determine which packets should be transmitted from the switching station first when multiple packets are routed to the same outgoing port of the switching station. A packet prioritization station is provided, preferably as an add-on to the switching station. The packet prioritization station has a cache in which the destination address of each incoming packet is associated with every origin from which it has received a transmission within a certain time period. The packet prioritization station operates to give priority to transmissions to those destinations that have a higher number of associated origins. Thus, packets that are probably en route to time-critical users or groups of users will be sent before those that are less time-sensitive.
