    • A fail detecting device for a rotation angle sensor, for detecting a fail of the rotation angle sensor even if the number of rotation angle sensors is one. A cam is configured to be driven to rotate in one direction by an electric motor to reciprocate a push rod. An output voltage of an angle sensor is set so that the region equal to or lower than a first predetermined voltage and the region equal to or higher than a second predetermined voltage higher than the first predetermined voltage are recognized as a dead zone. The elapsed time after the transition to the dead zone is measured by a timer and it is determined that the angle sensor is in the fail state if the output voltage corresponding to the dead zone is detected although the estimated time of the passage through the dead zone has elapsed.

    • To precisely detect the temperature of a power assist motor without using a temperature sensor and enhance an overheating protection function. A calorific value calculating unit calculates a calorific value based upon the difference between a calorific value by current supplied to a motor and the quantity of heat radiation. The output of the calorific value calculating unit is accumulated and an accumulated value is input to an accumulated value buffer. A cumulative value TS acquired by adding initial temperature T0 to a cumulative value Td is input to a ratio map of a target current value, ratio is read, and a target base current value is limited according to the ratio. The cumulative value TS used in the map is not an actual motor current value and is calculated based upon unlimited current acquired in an unlimited current calculating unit.

A transmission control unit includes an accommodation coefficient fuzzy-inferring control, a target engine rotational speed setting control and a change-gear ratio controlling member. Inputting the change-gear ratio R, the throttle opening O, the speed v of the vehicle and the change in vehicle speed per unit time (or the acceleration) G, the accommodation coefficient fuzzy-inferring control finds a rate of change A in accommodation coefficient A by using fuzzy rules set in advance. The target engine rotational speed setting control sets a target rotational speed NE of an engine on the basis of at least the accommodation coefficient A and the speed V of the vehicle. The change-gear ratio controlling member controls the change-gear ratio R of the non-state transmission to provide a rotational speed N of the engine equal to the target engine rotational speed NE.

    • Disclosed is an improved multi-pin type of water proof electric connector which is guaranteed free of shortcircuit between adjacent pin-and-contact piece connections even if water should invade to any pin-and-connector piece connection through the very small gap between the conductor and the insulation sheath of the wire by the capillary action. The electric connector comprises a male half having contact pieces and a female half having pin terminals in its cavity, and a seal member placed in the space which is to be formed between the outer surface of the plug housing and the inside surface of the socket housing when the male and female halves are coupled. The plug housing has a plurality of hollow protrusions each containing a contact piece, and the seal member encircles each of the protrusions, thereby sealing each pin-and-contact piece connection independently from adjacent pin-and-contact piece connections when the male and female halves are mated.
