    • A papermaking machine and a method for applying an application medium to a moving web of material in a papermaking machine. The papermaking machine has a wet end section, a press section, a drying section and an applying device for applying a medium to a moving web of material. The wet end section includes a twin wire area having a first wire and a second wire wherein the web of material is formed and positioned between the two wires and separated from the two wires before moving to the press section. At least one wet end section applying device is positioned on one side of at least one of the first wire or the second wire within the twin wire area and facing away from the web of material positioned on the wires. The press section of the papermaking machine has a first press element and at least one press section applying device facing directly toward the web of material. The method includes forming a web of material in a twin wire area of a wet end section of the papermaking machine, applying at least one first medium with at least one wet end section applying device to at least one side of the web of material within the twin wire area of the wet end section of the papermaking machine, moving the formed web of material to the press section of the papermaking machine, and applying at least one second medium to the formed web of material with at least one press section applying device after the web of material passes a first press element of a press section of the papermaking machine.

The machine may also include a meandering run path for the material sheet through the at least one dryer group, the material sheet being guided in the meandering run path by the top and bottom felts, and at least one transition area between the plurality of dryer cylinders. The top and bottom felts may be positioned to guide the material sheet therebetween in the at least one transition area between the dryer cylinders.

    • A paper machine forming section with two wire forming units. One of the two forming units is a twin wire web forming unit having a headbox, two wire loops arranged in sandwich-like manner and a drainage element for each of the wire loops. The first web-forming unit has a first section including a curved suction drainage element or roll in the first lower wire loop; a second section with opposing drainage ledges, wherein the drainage ledges are stationary on the upper side and the drainage ledges are developed resiliently pressable on the bottom side; the drainage ledges of the upper and lower sides are arranged staggered with respect to each other in the direction of travel of the wire, and at least the ledges of the upper side are developed with suction; a third section which has at least one suction wire separating element on one side. The second web-forming unit is a hybrid former with a single wire. The guide rolls for the second wire of the first former and for the wire of the second former guide them on a joint wire path where the multilayer web is transferred to the wire of the second former. There is a headbox associated with the wire of the second former. A respective backwater circuit collects water and materials drained from each of the forming units and returns them to the respective headboxes.

An annular pulp chamber surrounds the screen for collecting the pulp. A suspension outlet at the bottom of the pulp chamber receives the pulp from the pulp chamber. The pulp chamber extends axially beyond the lower end of the wire cage. An annular damping chamber surrounds the lower end of the pulp chamber and flow from the pulp chamber to the pulp outlet is past the damping chamber. The damping chamber develops a pool of the suspension in it. A pressurized gas cushion above the pool of suspension in the damping chamber controls the level thereof and damps the motion of the pulp in the pulp chamber.
