    • A first endless felt belt (43) which absorbs water from the belt (9) passes through a first press nip (1) and a similar second felt belt (57) passes through a second press nip (II). The arrangement is such that the web (9) is continuously in contact with at least one transport means (for instance, with one of the felt belts). In both press nips (I, II) the web (9) is in contact with an endless elastic press element (for instance, press belt or press shell) the water absorption capacity of which is less than that of the felt belts (43, 57). It is essential that two endless elastic press elements which are independent of each other, namely a first and a second press element (47, 53) are present and that the one side of the web comes into contact with the first press element (47) in the first press nip (I) and the other side of the web comes into contact with the second press element (53) in the second press nip (II).     • This device, preferably formed as a dual paper machine, has according to a preferred embodiment two endless screens, mainly a lower screen (21) and an upper screen (22). The lower screen (21), on which is formed a paper web, and the upper screen (22) are moved together in the lower part of a dehydration cylinder (25) arranged in the upper screen. Both screens (21,22) are unrolled from the rising lower quadrant of said cylinder (25) and are laid on the upper part of the support cylinder (26) arranged in the lower screen (21). The bandage of the dehydration cylinder (25) has hollows which absorb water from the screens along their arcs of contact with the cylinder and which project the water towards the inside of the loop formed by the screens of the cylinder. In the feed direction of the screens and downstream of the support cylinder (26), there is arranged a receiving container (36) for the projected water. The container has a curved covering wall (40) which extends opposite the feed direction of the screens up to the interstice formed between the dehydration cylinder (25) and the screens (21,22). The reception container (36) is divided into two chambers (44,45) which extend transversally to the screens and which have separate side discharge conduits. The water supplied into the main chamber (45) through the covering wall (40) is deviated by means of blades (52) towards the direction of the discharge conduit.

    • A head box has a preferably fixed flow-carrying wall (11) and a movable flow-carrying wall (13) defining a nozzle-like stock conduit (14) and an outlet slot (15). The movable wall is provided with an adjustable profile bar (35) at the stock outlet slot. For coarse adjustment of the slot width, two lifting devices (21) act on the movable flow-carrying wall. Fine adjustment of the slot width is performed by adjustment spindles (36) acting on the profile bar.To improve adjustment of the stock outlet slot by the movable wall and to use the profile bar adjustment to perform very small corrections to the slot width, a front end section (24) of the movable wall located in the region of the stock outlet slot is flexibly constructed with respect to the remaining part of the wall, and a plurality of adjustment units (33) are spaced across the machine width and act on the flexible end section directly in front of the stock outlet slot.Thereby the movable wall (33) can be adapted with relatively high accuracy to the contour of the fixed wall (11) on the outlet slot side by the adjustment units (33) acting on the flexible end section (24). The immersion depth of the profile bar (35) into the stock conduit is therefore largely constant over the machine width. Cross currents and variable velocities of the stock flow are avoided and the paper's properties are improved.
