More particularly, there is provided to the provision of an arrangement for increasing the cooling capacity of portable personal computers, particularly such as laptop or notebook computers. The computer possesses a keyboard having the rear edge thereof hingedly connected with the bottom of an openable display unit or panel, and containing heat-generating computer electronics, from which heat is removed through a heat pipe terminating in a coupling arrangement possessing elements which connect to and disconnect from each other when, respectively, docking and undocking the portable personal computer in a docking station so as to facilitate the transference of heat from the portable personal computer through the coupling arrangement into the docking station from whence the heat is dissipated to the surroundings through the intermediary of a heat sink.

摘要： A portable or notebook type computer communication interface that permits portable computers to be reliably used in a data processing network. The interface involves communication circuitry, special device inputs and power monitoring and charging. A flexible portable computer wireless time and frequency division network is formed using a time and frequency division multiplexed communication channel assignment feature that together with a wireless link establishes a unique direct communication channel between data processing devices on different levels with data packet type transmission security. The principle permits each portable computer in the network to communicate with any other and any and all can transmit and receive at the same time.

摘要： Heat transfer out of a housing for a locallized source of heat such as that produced by a semiconductor chip of electronic apparatus is provided by a low thermal impedance heat transfer member such as a heat pipe, a thermal reservoir or heat transfer buffering member and a Peltier effect device interfaced with the thermal reservoir and the ambient surrounding the housing so as to provide a refrigeration function for the thermal reservoir. A high heat capacity or high latent heat of phase transition material can be used for the thermal reservoir. In a portable computer with a battery power supply, the thermal reservoir can be independent or the battery can be employed in the thermal reservoir functions.

摘要： An integrated air mover/heatsink for cooling semiconductor chip packages supports disks to rotate within the heat sink parallel to a heat receiving surface so that the heat sink acts as an enclosing housing for the disks. The heat sink preferably defines enclosing aperatures for respective disks which are closely spaced and coextensive heat with transfer surfaces over which air is forced by rotation of the disks. By so arranging the disks and enclosing aperature walls parallel to the heat receiving surface, a forced intimate flow of air over heat sink surfaces is achieved in a low profile configuration. Alternative implementations provide cooling for multiple chips and various arrangements for intake and exhaust of cooling air.

摘要： A method and system of predicting a maintenance schedule and estimating a cost for warranty service of systems, for example, hardware systems, is provided. The method and system in one aspect may collect component usage data and obtain component reliability data for each of the plurality of components. A component life distribution module (CLDM) may be constructed based on the real time component usage data and the component reliability data, and from CLDM a mean time to fail data may be obtained. A system life distribution model (SLDM) may be selected and the mean time to fail data input into the SLDM to obtain an operating environment index that represents the effect of environment conditions on the lifetime and reliability. A maintenance schedule may be predicted and an adjusted cost of warranty service may be calculated based on the operating environment index for each of the plurality of components.
