    • To provide an outflow prevention device which is capable of preventing refrigerant from flowing out into a vehicle compartment even when an evaporator has ruptured.The outflow prevention device comprises a shut valve arranged in a passage via which refrigerant introduced into a shut valve inlet from an expansion device is allowed to flow to the evaporator, and a check valve arranged in a passage via which refrigerant returned from the evaporator is allowed to flow to an accumulator. A chamber behind a piston fixed to a plug holding a valve sheet and a chamber on a downstream side of the check valve are communicated with each other via a bypass passage, so that differential pressure generated across the check valve by flow of refrigerant through the same can be applied to the shut valve to open and close the same. The valve sheet and the piston are formed to have the same diameters so as to prevent the shut valve from being influenced by introduced pressure, thereby enabling the shut valve to be operated only by the differential pressure generated across the check valve.

    • A method of determining flow through a valve includes determining a first differential pressure across the valve. The valve is bypassed and a second differential pressure is determined across the valve. A flow decision is determined for the valve based on comparison of the first and second differential pressures. A method of testing a relief valve in a reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly includes determining a first differential pressure across an upstream check valve during a no flow condition. The upstream check valve is bypassed for the purpose of opening a relief valve, and a zone vent is opened.

    • The invention relates to the sector of pressure-washing machines, in the form of a valve with by-pass function when the gun is closed, and allows reduction of the pressure inside the delivery duct during operation in by-pass mode. In particular this valve comprises an external housing (1) defining a chamber (2) provided with an inlet section (3), an outlet section (4) and a discharge section (5). It also comprises means (6) for shutting off the discharge section (5) or the outlet section (4), which are located inside the chamber (2) and actuated in a reciprocating manner by a difference in pressure and by resilient means (7) and provided with means (8) for communication between the inlet section (3) and the outlet section (5) operating during discharge of the flow through the discharge section (5).

    • A recirculation valve with pilot valve. The claimed invention comprises a housing containing an inlet chamber for receiving liquid from a pump, an outlet chamber for transporting liquid downstream of said valve and a recirculation port for recirculating liquid back to said pump; check valve means dividing said inlet and outlet chambers and extending substantially transverse thereto, the check valve means opening to permit the flow of liquid between the inlet and outlet chambers when the check valve means is in a first position and preventing flow when the check valve means is in a second position; a chamber for transferring liquid between said inlet chamber and a by-pass valve means, the by-pass valve means being axially aligned with said check valve means and comprising an outer sleeve having a plurality of seats and a slidable inner stem, said inner stem having a plurality of lands which slidable mate with said seats to close off flow through said by-pass valve when said check valve is in a first position and which disalign to permit flow through said by-pass valve when said check valve means is in a second position. The movement of said recirculation stem is directly controlled by a pilot valve which regulate the water pressure and quantity of a piston chamber located beneath the stem.

    • A bypass valve with a tubular housing having an inlet at one end, a main outlet at the other end and a bypass outlet between the ends. A larger-diameter valving element controls the flow of fluid from the inlet to the main outlet, and a smaller-diameter valving element which is coaxial with the larger-diameter valving element controls the flow of fluid from the interior of the housing to the bypass outlet. The valving elements are mounted on a rod which confines them to movement in and counter to the direction of fluid flow from the inlet to the main outlet. Each valving element is movable by the fluid to an infinite number of positions in each of which they permit the fluid to flow to the respective outlets at a different rate. The smaller-diameter valving element is movable against an annular seat to seal the bypass outlet from the interior of the housing. The larger-diameter valving element can cooperate with a seat or is reciprocable in a tapering section of the housing so as to allow for continuous flow of fluid between the inlet and the main outlet. The rod is rigidly connected to the smaller-diameter valving element and is rigid with or reciprocable relative to the larger-diameter valving element.
