    • A drill mine, having the same operational and physical characteristics as a service mine is provided with apparatus for indicating mine actuation and for providing retrieval thereof. A buoyant float assembly is provided which shortly after water entry separates from the drill mine body but remains tethered thereto. Upon mine actuation a smoke generating signal float is released from the float assembly and rises to the surface thereby giving an indication of mine actuation. After a preset time, the float assembly is released from its tethered mode and floats to the surface carrying a recovery line therewith. Upon surfacing, recovery personnel may use the recovery line to remove a heavy retrieval line stored and fixed within the mine case. The retrieval line is employed to pull the mine from the bottom onto a recovery vessel.

    • A shock tube apparatus may include a plenum to hold a volume of gas. The plenum may include a hollow chamber having a first end and a second end located opposite one another along a longitudinal axis, the first end of the chamber defining a shock egress opening. A valve assembly may be positioned at the first end of the chamber to seal the shock egress opening. A piston may be positioned within a recess located at the second end of the chamber. The piston may separate a first volume located between the piston and the first end of the chamber from a smaller second volume located between the piston and the second end of the chamber. A tension supporting rod may connect the valve assembly to the piston. A release valve may be in fluid connection with the second volume and a switch may be operable to open the release valve to release gas from the second volume and trigger opening of the valve assembly to generate a shock wave through the shock egress opening.

    • A combination stabilizer system and cylindrical-shaped undersea package improves validity of data collected from ambient sea by orienting the package in an upright attitude and eliminating motion or rocking due to wave action and/or sea currents. An outrigger base assembly has a flat base surface to rest on the sea floor and is provided with upper surfaces having semi-circular cross-sectional configurations to contiguously fit adjacent to round outer contours of an undersea package. The outrigger base assembly also has laterally extending outrigger portions extending the flat base surface for increased stability. First and second case clamps have curved surfaces with semi-circular cross-sectional configurations that extend above the outrigger base assembly. The first and second clamps clamp the curved surfaces and upper surfaces onto the round contours and secure the undersea package in an upright orientation.
