摘要： For joining two faces (41, 42) of thermoplastics in a penetration beam welding method the covered face (42) is multiply scanned and thus incremently heated by a laser beam (10) directed through the covering face (41). This preheating is repeated until the melting temperature is attained. In the region of the covered face (42) a melt thus materializes simultaneously over the full seam length which wets the covering face (41) and thus also transfers this face into melt by heat conduction. On completion of material softening the faces (41, 42) are mutually moved until abutting. Thus the two faces (41, 42) weld in principle as if they had been plasticized simultaneously over the full seam length which significantly enhances the seal and strength of the seam, whilst the expenditure the apparatus is low.

If any of the parameters defining the pattern of transverse sealing operation is changed, the specified length or the specified length of time can also be automatically adjusted.

摘要： An apparatus and method for ultrasonically forming a surgical suture tip from a length of unfinished surgical suture material. The apparatus includes a first tipping die having a first face for contacting a portion of the length of unfinished surgical suture material. A second tipping die having a second face is also provided. The first and second die also having extending therefrom a first member and a second member. The first and second dies cooperate with the first and second members to form a length of suture. At least one mechanical actuator is provided for moving the first face of the first tipping die and the third face of the first member toward the second face of the second tipping die and the fourth face of the second member. A second actuator vibrates at least one of the first and second tipping dies at an ultrasonic frequency of about 15 KHz to about 70 KHz. The method of ultrasonically forming a suture tip comprises the positioning a surgical suture between the first, second, third and fourth faces of the tipping apparatus then vibrating the dies at an appropriate frequency.

摘要： Apparatus for determining whether the movement of articles travelling on a conveyor have stalled includes a first sensor, such as a photoeye, for sensing the presence of at least one of the articles at a first location along the conveyor and second sensor, such as a photoeye, for sensing whether the articles are moving past another location along the conveyor. A control unit is provided which is responsive to the first photoeye sensing the presence of at least one article at the first location and responsive to the second photoeye detecting that articles are not moving for determining that the movement of the articles has stalled and for initiating appropriate corrective action, such as actuating alarm(s) and, in the case where the apparatus is used in conjunction with an induction sealing apparatus, terminating power to the sealing head of such apparatus.

摘要： A sealing condition monitoring apparatus detects in a real-time manner a defect in of sealing due to entry of foreign matter or due to a defect or malfunction of components of a sealing apparatus. There are provided a counter bar disposed at the forward end of a counter jaw for sealing a packaging container into which a liquid food is charged, and a sealing bar disposed at the forward end of a heat sealing jaw to face the counter bar. A packaging material is held between the sealing bar and the counter bar, and a pressing force is applied thereto for sealing. A sheet-shaped pressure sensor is provided on the surface of the counter bar for detecting the pressing force applied to the packaging material at each detection point. Also, there is provided a controller which compares data of the pressing force detected by the sheet-shaped pressure sensor and master data which are previously set to correspond to a pressing force for obtaining proper sealing conditions. The controller detects a defect in sealing by comparing the data for detected pressing force with the master data.

摘要： A computer controlled, laboratory heat-sealing machine is employed as a quality control device to ensure that adequate heat seals are formed under pre-defined and outputted pressure, dwell time and temperature parameters. The apparatus includes sensors for monitoring temperature and pressure conditions throughout the sealing dwell period. The clamping pressure is constantly adjusted to be maintained at a preset level by sensing the clamping pressure and controlling the top heat-sealing bar through an eccentrically driven crankshaft linkage. Load cell arrangements for monitoring pressure in high and low pressure ranges are also disclosed.
