    • A honing installation for honing workpieces comprises a plurality of work stations, each work station being configured for performing at least one working step on a workpiece and at least part of the work station is set up as a honing station for performing at least one honing operation on a workpiece. The honing installation also comprises a conveyor system for conveying workpieces to and from work stations. There is also a control device for controlling the honing installation. Each of the work stations is directly connected to the conveyor system. This configuration allows a flexible control of the honing process.

    • A computer controlled assembly line (10) contains multiple work cells (40) for assembling a printed circuit board (PCB). Each work cell contains a conveyor (30) that can independently adjust its width, and the work cells are arranged to process the printed circuit board within the cell. The work cells are arranged so that they can pass the printed circuit board from the conveyor in one work cell to the conveyor in the next cell. The conveyors have two parallel rails (35, 36) situated so that the distance between the rails can be automatically adjusted to accommodate printed circuit boards of varying widths on the same assembly line at the same time. Each work cell independently adjusts the width of its conveyor (i.e. the distance between the rails) to accommodate the incoming printed circuit board. When the PCB is cleared out of the first cell, a second PCB waiting to enter the first cell is scanned (20), and the conveyor width of the first cell is re-adjusted to accommodate the different size of the first PCB. The entire assembly line is controlled by a central controller, such as a computer.

    • A conveying device for testing and reprocessing objects (25) processed by a processing station (27), especially labelled objects (25), as for example ampoules, containers or syringes. A conveyor device conveys objects (25) to be processed in a continual, uniform motion through the processing station (27). The objects (25) are held therein in pickups (23). A feeding device (33) leads the objects individually toward the conveying device (21). A checking station (31) examines the processing result. A control stops, in case of determining an insufficiently processed, for example not labelled objects (25b), the feeding device (33) and gradually brakes the conveying device (21). The control then reverses the direction of movement of the conveying device (21) until the insufficiently processed object (21b) has reached again the processing station (27). The object is reprocessed, for example labelled, while the conveying device (21) and subsequently the feeding device (33) are engaged in the original direction of movement. Based on the uniform movement of the conveying device (21), it is possible to obtain high working cycle rates with a gentle conveyance of the objects to be processed and reprocessed.
