    • An improved lower die assembly is provided which allows a given lower die in a pressing machine to be replaced with another easily and in a short period of time relative to a die holder. In the lower die assembly in which a lower die is received and securely held in a die holder, the improvement comprises: a clamp means whereby the lower die when unclamped is received in the die holder so that the lower die can be extracted from the die holder upwards and then when clamped is securely held therein; and a lift means disposed below the lower die and whereby the lower die when unclamped is raised above an upper end of the die holder.

    • Disclosed is an electromagnetic coupling designed to strengthen the magnetic force exerted from an electromagnetic coil in the direction in which a pilot clutch is operated. In the electromagnetic coupling with the pilot clutch for activating a main clutch wherein clutch plates are thrust with a retaining ring moved by magnetic force produced by an electromagnetic coil in the pilot clutch, the electromagnetic coil in the pilot clutch is surrounded with ferromagnetic material over at least two of its three facial sides other than its magnetic force exerting facial side, namely over at least its rear and outer facial sides and the ferromagnetic material is covered with nonmagnetic material.

    • A method whereby magnetic and nonmagnetic materials can be joined together firmly and having their joining areas freed from embrittlement and with a minimum of deformation is disclosed. Applied to the process of fitting a ring of nonmagnetic material into an annular space formed between an inner and an outer member each made of magnetic material, the method includes bringing an inner and an outer peripheral surface of the ring of nonmagnetic material each into a semi-molten state and bringing the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the ring of nonmagnetic material into pressure contact with the inner and outer members, respectively, to join the inner and outer peripheral surfaces to the inner and outer members, respectively, by interfacial fusion.

    • There is provided a method for forming a disc-shaped blank in which a disc-shaped thin plate material is, at an outer peripheral portion thereof, swaged towards an axial side of the plate material with a roll die to thicken the outer peripheral portion and is shaped into a cross-sectional configuration corresponding to that of a dish, the method comprises the steps of: sandwiching and securing between a pair of sandwiching members the disc-shaped thin plate material except for the outer peripheral portion including a swaging portion; swaging the swaging portion projecting from the sandwiching members so that an outermost end of the swaging portion may be shaped into a cross-sectional configuration corresponding to that of an arrowhead while a root portion of the swaging portion has the same thickness as the original thin thickness of the plate material; thereafter, bending the outer peripheral portion including the thick-walled swaged portion at the root portion thereof from one side surface of the disc-shaped thin plate material towards the other side direction and forming a bent portion into an L-shaped configuration in cross section so that the bent portion may lie within a predetermined width; and thereafter, forging the bent portion in a closed state so that an inner surface and outer surface thereof may each have predetermined dimensions.
