    • A method for manufacturing a gear includes forming a bi-material billet from a steel cylinder having a cylindrical wall, a first end closed with a first steel cap, and an open second end distal to the first end. The method includes disposing a core material other than steel into the steel cylinder, welding a second steel cap onto the steel cylinder to form the bi-material billet, and heating the cylindrical wall. The method includes a first forging blow on the heated billet or on a disk-shaped rough forging forged from the heated billet with a first closed blocker die to produce a partial toothed preform, and a second forging blow on the preform with a second closed blocker die to produce a netshape gear. The first closed blocker die has a die cavity including gear tooth forms, and the partial toothed preform includes a plurality of spaced gear teeth.

    • [PROBLEMS] To provide a process for producing a lightweight race ring through steady unification, without any deformation, of an aluminum alloy member for constituting a main body of race ring and an iron base alloy member for constituting a raceway surface thereof. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Outer ring (41) of cross roller bearing is a composite part comprised of outer ring main body member (411) of aluminum alloy and, bonded to the inside thereof, outer ring side raceway surface constituting member (412) of iron base alloy. Layer of A7075 type alloy powder (413) is interposed between diffusion bonding face (411a) of outer ring main body member (411) and diffusion bonding face (412a) of outer ring side raceway surface constituting member (412) (step ST3), and diffusion bonding of the members (411, 412) is carried out (step ST4). It has been ascertained that the members (411, 412) can be strongly bonded and unified together by interposing the layer of alloy powder (413) even at bonding temperature lower than in the prior art. Thus, the diffusion bonding can be accomplished without any deformation of the outer ring main body member (411) of aluminum alloy.

    • A rigid internal gear 2 of the wave gear device is composed by integrating a tooth-forming ring 12 formed with internal teeth, and a main gear ring 11 into a single body. The tooth-forming ring 12 is manufactured from a ferrous or copper material that has superior strength and abrasion resistance, while the main gear ring 11 is manufactured from a lightweight material, such as an aluminum alloy. The outer circumferential surface of the tooth-forming ring 12 is aluminized to form a dispersed aluminum coating 15, before the tooth-forming ring 12 is cast within the main gear ring 11 so as to integrate the main gear ring 11 and the tooth-forming ring 12. Both parts are reliably integrated so that a large amount of torque can be transmitted, whereby realizing a rigid internal gear that is lighter than conventional models.
