摘要： A method and an apparatus are provided, which enable a user's standby time to be shortened or utilized effectively in the course of recording/reproduction of information with respect to an optical disk. Information recorded on a disk is reproduced preferentially, and after counting for a predetermined period of time, recording learning is conducted. Alternatively, management information is reproduced preferentially over recording learning, and recording learning is conducted while a user is confirming this information. Alternatively, the possibility of recording on a disk is identified, and reproduction preference or recording learning preference processing is conducted based the possibility. Alternatively, a rotation speed of a disk is controlled to be variable or constant, based on the possibility of recording.

摘要： When recording or reading an optical disc having plural data recording layers, which data recording layer the light spot is focused on is detected to improve playback signal quality and read signals written to the layer on which the light spot is focused more reliably. A convergent lens 105 converges the laser beam on the optical disc, and a focus controller 109 controls the focal point of the laser beam on the data layer. A tracking controller 110 positions and tracks the focal point of the laser beam converged by the convergent lens 105 on a track of the optical disc. A photodetector 107 detects the reflected laser beam from the disc. A convergence detector 112 then detects the convergence state of the laser beam emitted to the plural data recording layers. Based on output from the convergence detector 112, the laser driver is controller to separately set beam power appropriately for each of the plural data layers of the disc during playback.

摘要： A recording type optical disk on which data is recordable includes a data recording and reproducing area for recording data therein and reproducing data therefrom, and a read-only disk identification information area for recording disk identification information for identifying the optical disk therein. In the optical disk, the disk identification information is formed by removing a reflection film that is formed on the optical disk in a strip shape. The disk identification information includes an inherent disk identifier for each optical disk, and the data recording and reproducing area includes an area for recording encrypted data therein. The encrypted data is encrypted by using information including the disk identification information for identifying the optical disk as a key.

A specific pattern signal is read from a disc track and digitized with an appropriate slice level by the digitizing circuit (115). A pulse position offset measuring circuit (120) then measures specific edge intervals in the resulting digital signal. Movement of the first and last pulse by the pulse moving circuit (110) is then set so that the offset between the measured edge interval and a predetermined standard edge interval is ideally zero.

摘要： The optical data recording method comprising the steps of: modulating data to be recorded, to generate a plurality of recording modulation codes; and emitting a pulse-like light beam to an optical disc, so that a plurality of recording marks and spaces which have lengths corresponding to the plurality of recording modulation codes are formed on the optical disc. In the optical data recording method, at least two of the plurality of recording marks comprises: a first pulse which is disposed at a front and forms a leading edge of the recording mark, a last pulse which is disposed at a backend and forms a trailing edge of the recording mark, and a multi-pulse train which is disposed between the first pulse and the last pulse and forms a center of the recording mark. The multi-pulse train has a pulse period longer than T which represents a reference period of the recording modulation code.
