    • A flow control valve is provided in a primary pulley that is a rotor, and includes a first port; a second port; a working fluid channel formed between the first port and the second port and through which working oil passes; a check valve that is formed in the working fluid channel and is opened toward a first-port-side channel from a second-port-side channel of the working fluid channel; and a valve-opening control section (a guide member, a spool, a cylinder, and a drive pressure chamber) that is arranged at the check valve at the side of the second port, that forcibly opens the check valve when discharging the working fluid from the first port to the second port, and increases a channel resistance of the second-port-side channel as an opening amount of the check valve is small. The flow control valve can prevent over-discharge of the working fluid at the beginning of opening the valve.

    • A vehicular electric drive system comprises: an electric motor operatively connected to drive wheels so that the drive wheels are driven by said electric motor; a hydraulically operated clutch configured to place a power transmitting path between said electric motor and said drive wheels in a selected one of a power transmitting state and a power cutoff state; a gear mechanism disposed between said hydraulically operated clutch and said drive wheels, to reduce a speed of a rotary motion of said electric motor; a first chamber accommodating said electric motor and said hydraulically operated clutch; a second chamber accommodating said gear mechanism; a partition wall disposed so as to isolate said first chamber and said second chamber from each other; a connecting hole formed on said partition wall through which said hydraulically operated clutch and said gear mechanism are operatively connected to each other; an oil seal fitted in said connecting hole, to restrict flows of an oil through said connecting hole; an oil pump provided to deliver the oil required within said first chamber; and another independent oil supply mechanism which does not use said oil pump and which is provided to supply the oil to said second chamber.

    • In order to realize a thin and simple-structured planar illuminating device which is capable of carrying out the regional light control, a backlight module 1 of the present invention includes a light guiding plate 2 including steps 21a, 21b, and 21c, a plurality of LEDs 3 provided in the vicinity of one side surface of the light guiding plate 2, and light guides 4a, 4b, and 4c which are provided respectively between each of the steps 21a, 21b, 21c and each of the LEDs 3 facing each other.     • An image display device is provided which is capable of improving reproducibility of a white color. An RGB video signal is converted by a gamma converting section into three color luminance values and the maximum luminance value and minimum luminance value of the three color luminance values are calculated by a Min/Max calculating section. The first four color luminance values are calculated by an RGB luminance calculating section. A scaling factor is calculated by a scaling factor calculating section based on the first four color luminance values and the maximum luminance value. The second four color luminance values are calculated by an RGBW scaling luminance calculating section based on the first four color luminance values and on the scaling factor. An RGBW video signal corresponding to a gray level value of four color is generated by a reverse gamma converting section.

    • A liquid crystal display panel driving device is provided which is capable of reliably improving a response speed of a liquid crystal and of obtaining good display quality. When overshooting driving is performed in a current frame for displaying, an excessive response level in a next frame is predicted based on a combination of a gray level in one past frame and a gray level in a current frame and, when an excessive response is predicted, a corrected gray-level value to prevent (or to cancel) the excessive response is calculated in advance. By applying a voltage corresponding to the corrected gray-level value, an excessive response in a next frame can be suppressed. Irrespective of whether or not an excessive response is predictable in a next frame, an overshooting driving can be performed at an applied voltage sufficiently corresponding to a target gray-level value and, as a result, a response speed of a liquid crystal can be reliably made high and good display quality can be obtained.
