    • The disclosure relates to a catalytic converter for cleaning exhaust gas generated from automobiles or the like and more particularly to a structure for securing a catalyst carrier to a casing. In the converter, a casing for embracing, supporting and securing the catalyst carrier is provided with at least one end cover at the one end of the casing in the longitudinal direction thereof, the catalyst carrier is secured to the one end cover, but not secured to the remainder of the casing. The catalyst carrier may be secured to the end cover by sandwiching the flange portion of the catalyst carrier between the vertical step portion of the end cover and a pushing ring via buffering members. Alternatively, the catalyst carrier may be secured to the end cover by pushing a taper bushing having a wedge-shaped cross section into the space between the concave recessed portion provided on the surface of the catalyst carrier and the short pipe portion of the end cover. Mesh washers formed from a knitted metal wire mesh can be used for the buffering members.

    • The present disclosure relates to a metal seal ring suitably used at pipe connection portions in exhaust pipe systems of automobile engines for example and a method of producing the same. The metal seal ring comprises a metal ring having a pipe-shaped cross section, and a heat-resistant composite gasket material ring filling the metal ring, wherein the composite gasket material ring is formed such that a sheet of the composite gasket material, such as a mixture of heat-resistant fiber and elastomer, a having reinforcing core material, such as a wire net and a perforated steel plate, therein, is slit to obtain a rectangular strip, that both longitudinal ends of the strip are joined to each other to form a ring, and that both fringes of the strip are butt-joined to each other to form a ring having a pipe-shaped cross section. A one-side opened metal ring having a U- or J-shaped cross section and two leg portions opened and extended nearly in parallel is filled with the composite gasket ring thus made, and then the two leg portions of the metal ring are bent so as to close the opening of the ring, thereby forming a closed pipe ring.

    • A wig-like cool cap wherein an artificial hair is implanted to an artificial scalp portion. The artificial hair is composed of carbon fiber or fine thread form comprising twisted plural carbon fibers, while the artificial scalp portion comprises a central network portion (1) and an outer surrounding membranous portion (2). The central network portion (1) is composed of carbon fiber or fine thread form comprising twisted plural carbon fibers and is constructed in a network. The outer surrounding membranous portion (2) is arranged at an outer circumference of the central network portion and has a plurality of micropores. Because carbon fiber has very large coefficient of thermal conductivity and is superior in heat-releasing characteristic, it can prevent stuffiness and sweat peculiar to conventional wigs. Further, because carbon fiber is superior in resistance against chemicals, hair care products, coloring reagent and the like can be freely used. A cap of the present invention is manufactured in a manner that an artificial hair is penetrated through a sieve plate (4) and perforated frame (5) to be brought into contact with an artificial scalp portion (6), and thereafter the artificial hair is fixed.

    • A wig including an artificial scalp portion and artificial hair planted thereon. The scalp portion and hair are both composed of fiber filaments formed of a fine powder of a single type or composite type of inorganic or organic substance with excellent heat releasing characteristics and of synthetic fibers, natural fibers, natural hair or regenerated fibers. The fine powder is mixed in the fibers, or those fibers are coated with the powder, using a synthetic resin adhesive for obtaining the fiber filaments. The inorganic powder may be a metallic powder including copper, titanium oxide, aluminum iron, zirconium or ceramic as the primary component, and organic powder may be a powder having synthetic resins or natural fibers as the primary components. The wigs thus provided are easy to handle and care for as they are able to release heat efficiently even at high temperatures or under poorly aerated conditions utilizing the thermal conductivity of the component material of the artificial scalp portion and the artificial hair of the wig.
