    • The invention concerns cooling apparatus for strip metal of the kind comprising a series of spaced cooling rolls around which the strip metal is passed such that it follows a serpentine path and is cooled by contact with the rolls, and elongate gas jet devices disposed widthwise of the strip opposite the outer surface parts of respective cooling rolls in contact with the strip. The invention is characterized in that each said gas jet device is partitioned into segments in said widthwise direction, in that each segment is provided with a gas flow control valve, in that means are provided at least at one cooling roll position for detecting strip temperature across its width, and in that strip temperature control and arithmetic means are provided to which the gas flow valves and the temperature detecting means are electrically connected, the arrangement being such that the temperature difference between the average temperature across the strip and the temperature of the strip at each segment width position can be compared, via electrical signals from the temperature detecting means and, if the temperature difference at a widthwise position is above or below predetermined limits, the corresponding gas flow control valves are adjusted to bring the temperature within the predetermined limits.

    • For a control circuit of a three-phase alternating current motor-generator, which serves as a three-phase rectifier circuit for charging a battery with power generated by driving the motor-generator as a generator and which also serves as a three-phase inverter circuit for driving the motor-generator as a motor by using a battery and uses MOSFETs as control elements for each of three phases, a control device is provided, which, in case of driving the motor-generator as the three-phase ac generator, uses means for making synchronous rectification by using MOSFETs only on the negative potential side of respective phases and means for delaying and advancing an electric angle of the current carrying control timing by gate control of MOSFETs on negative potential side. When operating the motor-generator to charge the battery, this control device can easily perform the current carrying control for three-phase rectification and effectively generate a constant charging voltage without affection of variations in rotation speed and load.

Random pattern memories store random pattern expected and mask waveform data to be used for a random pattern test.     • The present invention relates to method and apparatus for heating a strip of metallic material in a continuous annealing furnace and more particularly to an improvement relating to a method and apparatus for heating a strip of metallic material in a continuous annealing furnace in which annealing of the strip is continuously carried out in such a manner that a gas, serving to adjust temperature of the strip, is blown toward the strip through a plurality of gas jet nozzles which are arranged on one side or both sides of the strip, wherein the temperature and flow rate of the strip are properly determined to a required level in response to the changing of the operating conditions such as the heat cycle, line speed, thickness of strip, width of strip and the like. Further, the present invention relates to a method and apparatus for heating a strip of metallic material in a continuous annealing furnace, wherein the temperature of the strip is controlled to reach a target temperature by heating or cooling the strip by means of a gas jet or the like having excellent respondency at a part of the heating zone in the continuous annealing furnace whereby irregular annealing of the strip is effectively inhibited.

    • An apparatus in which a metal strip is passed in contact partly around the outer circumferences of a number of spaced cooling rolls through which coolant passes. The apparatus includes temperature detectors for detecting the temperature of the strip before contact with each of the cooling rolls, and coolant temperature regulators controlled in accordance with the detected temperature of the strip to adjust the temperature of the coolant passing through each cooling roll to a range which limits the temperature drop of the strip such that unacceptable irregularities or distortions in the configuration of the strip cannot occur. The coolant used for each cooling roll is selected with a boiling point appropriate to the respective detected temperature for each roll. In the preferred arrangement, further temperature detectors are provided for each cooling roll to detect the temperature of the coolant, and output signals from both detectors are inputted to a control for regulating a flow rate valve.
