    • A focusing unit can be inserted into and removed from an illumination light path by rotating around a supporting portion. An index light source, a green LED, is attached to the bottom of a base. A transparent acrylic-resin disk is fixed to the base. A deflection prism is attached to the bottom of the disk. A beam from the light source enters the deflection prism. A focus index forming portion is provided on the top of the disk. In the center of a light-shielding portion is formed a slit-like opening, under which split prisms are provided. Deflected by the prisms, the beam from the light source is split into two, right-half and left-half, directional beams, and combined with an illumination optical system, in the form of two slit images, at the opening.

    • In a noncontact ophthalmotonometer: an image processing operation is performed on an image signal subjected to an imaging operation to extract a pupil, to compute location of the center of gravity thereof, and to move a measuring mechanism so that the center of gravity is located at the central axis of a nozzle. Locations of two alignment mark images from the signal are detected to compute distance from a nozzle end to a cornea from a gap between centers of gravity of the mark images. When the nozzle end approaches the cornea, the mechanism moves away therefrom. The mechanism moves toward an eye in the direction of the nozzle central to detect a second mark image. An aligning operation is performed using the second mark image. Eye pressure is then measured. The mechanism moves to a location farthest from the eye in the direction of the nozzle central axis.

Owing to this, after various types of preprocessing are performed, the second OS is booted by using the boot image file loaded into the main storage unit.
