    • An ice-making device of a refrigerator includes: an ice-making unit installed within a refrigerator and making ice cubes; a dispenser provided on a refrigerator door to allow the ice cubes to be taken out of the refrigerator; an ice duct guiding the ice cubes made in the ice-making unit to the dispenser; and an introduction preventing unit preventing an object from being introduced into the ice-making unit through the ice duct. A method for controlling an ice-making device of a refrigerator includes: inputting an ice cube extract signal; making ice cubes by driving an ice-making unit provided within the refrigerator and breaking the ice cubes according to the inputted signal; sensing an internal temperature of an ice duct that guides the ice cubes made in the ice-making unit to a dispenser provided on a refrigerator door; and stopping an operation of the ice-making unit when the sensed temperature is higher. Because an introduction of an external object into the ice duct is prevented and the operation of the ice-making unit is stopped, the external object can be prevented from being damaged, so the user can stably use the ice-making device of the refrigerator.

    • An apparatus for detecting a guard interval length (type) of a transmission symbol among the structure of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system receiver, to ensure proper operation of a symbol start detector and a fast Fourier transform (FFT) window position controller, is provided. This apparatus includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for converting a received OFDM signal into digital complex samples, a symbol start position detector for detecting a symbol start position with reference to information on a guard interval length among the complex samples output by the ADC, a symbol start position difference detector for detecting the difference between the symbol start position detected by the symbol start position detector and a symbol start position delayed for a predetermined symbol time, a guard interval length detector for comparing the symbol start position difference detected by the symbol start position difference detector with a predetermined guard interval decision reference value and detecting the length of the guard interval, and an FFT window position controller for shifting the FFT window position using the guard interval length detected by the guard interval length detector and the symbol start information detected by the symbol start detector, to activate an FFT at the shifted FFT window position. The lengths of various guard intervals are automatically detected in the OFDM receiver, thus performing accurate FFT window recovery.

    • A pair of common electrode lines are formed in the transverse direction, and a plurality of common electrodes in the longitudinal direction connect the common electrodes. A pair of connecting members which are connected to the pixel electrodes cover the edges of the common electrode lines adjacent the aperture region. Accordingly, since it is not necessary for a black matrix pattern formed in another substrate to shield the region where the liquid crystal direction does not properly behave, the black matrix lies outside the regions surrounded by the common electrodes, the pixel electrodes and the common electrode lines. In addition, the data line overlaps the adjacent common electrode, and thereby the aperture ratio is increased.

    • A reel table moving device for a video cassette tape recorder includes a mechanism for automatically positioning a pair of reel tables in response to insertion of a predetermined size video cassette without the need for an independent drive motor or sensor. The device includes a pair of protrusions mounted to opposite end portions of a moving member which are adapted to engage the tape cassette being inserted into the inlet port. The moving member moves in response to insertion of the tape cassette into the inlet port. In turn, an actuating member is connected to and moves in response to the movement of the moving member for causing the reel tables to move to a desired position for receiving a predetermined size tape cassette.
