摘要： Methods of treating a subject after ocular surgery are disclosed. The methods include administering to an eye of a subject in need thereof a composition comprising at least one corticosteroid or an ophthalmically acceptable salt thereof in an ophthalmically acceptable vehicle that can provide a sustained release of the at least one corticosteroid or an ophthalmically acceptable salt thereof. Advantageously, the composition does not result in a statistically significant elevation in intraocular pressure in a statistically significant number of subject eyes when administered twice daily over a period of two weeks.

摘要： The present invention relates to formulations of concentrated azalide antibiotics and methods for making and using them. Specifically, the invention relates to a method of treating an infection comprising administering to a patient in need thereof, an effective amount of a concentrated aqueous azalide antibiotic formulation made according to the method comprising dissolving an azalide antibiotic in an aqueous solution comprising a strong acid. The invention also relates to methods for making concentrated aqueous azalide antibiotic formulations for use in pulmonary infection, a nasopharyngeal infection, an otic infection, an ocular infection, a dermal or a vaginal infection. The invention also relates to concentrated aqueous azalide antibiotic formulations made by dissolving an azalide antibiotic in an aqueous solution comprising a strong acid.

摘要： The invention provides methods for stabilizing amino-substituted steroid therapeutic agents in topical ophthalmic and other pharmaceutical formulations using effective stabilizing amounts of lightly cross-linked carboxy-containing polymers; and methods for stabilizing and solubilizing amino-substituted steroid therapeutic agents in such pharmaceutical formulations using effective stabilizing amounts of lightly cross-linked carboxy-containing polymers and amounts of selected cyclodextrin derivatives sufficient to at least partially solubilize the therapeutic agents. The cyclodextrin derivatives are selected from the group consisting of the hydroxypropyl, hydroxyethyl, glucosyl, maltosyl and maltotriosyl derivatives of .beta.- and .gamma.-cyclodextrin. Stabilized and stabilized/solubilized pharmaceutical compositions adapted for various routes of administration are also described.

摘要： Topical ophthalmic medicament delivery system combining an aqueous ophthalmic gel suspension at a pH equal to or greater than 7.5 and an osmotic pressure of from 10 to about 400 mOsM containing a pharmaceutically effective mount of one or more ophthalmic medicaments of from about 0.05% to about 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the suspension, of a carboxyl-containing polymer prepared by polymerizing one or more carboxyl-containing monoethylenically unsaturated monomers and less then about 5% by weight of a cross-linking agent. The systems have a viscosity of from about 1,000 to about 30,000 centiposes prior to administration to the eye and remain a gel in the eye for a prolonged period of time allowing for the sustained release of one or medicaments such as amine containing antibiotics alone or in combination with cortiscosteroids.
