    • An insect trap system including a housing having first and second opposing ends, the first opposing end defining an aperture, an insect attractant module configured to create an airborne attractant zone, a fan disposed and configured to draw air into the housing through the aperture, a gate configured to operate in a first state wherein airflow through the aperture is inhibited by the gate, and to operate in a second state wherein airflow through the aperture is not substantially inhibited by the gate, wherein the gate is maintained in the first state for a predetermined first time such that the airborne attractant zone is formed and the gate is maintained in the second state for a second predetermined time such that insects within a capture zone are compelled to enter the housing through the aperture, wherein the gate is configured to alternate between the first and second states.

    • The invention is directed to an insect collection and viewing device comprising a negative air pressure generating assembly including a motor and a fan driven by the motor and a suitably shaped collection nozzle. A viewing chamber is coupled intermediate the collection nozzle and the negative air pressure assembly. The viewing chamber is tubular in shape and has an air permeable-insect impermeable screen at the downstream opening thereof and a movable valve/lens at the upstream opening thereof. When the valve/lens is open an air flow is established through the device. The air flow path is from the nozzle through the viewing chamber into and out of the assembly. In operation insects of interest are captured by sucking the insect into the device through the nozzle, then through the open valve/lens into the viewing chamber where it is captured between the screen and the closed valve. By making the valve in the shape of a transparent lens the trapped insect may be inspected through the magnifying lens.

    • An insect abatement system attracts and captures insects through the emission of carbon dioxide gas. The insect abatement system attaches to a lamp pole and accompanying gas burning lamp. The system routes carbon dioxide gas generated from the gas burning lamp through the lamp pole to the insect abatement assembly where the carbon dioxide is emitted to the atmosphere. The outflow of carbon dioxide gas is used as an attractant for insects. Insects are attracted to the carbon dioxide emissions which is strategically placed to lure insects near an inlet device. Attracted insects enter the insect abatement system through the inlet device and are sucked into the insect abatement system by an inflow of air created by a suction mechanism. The insects entering the insect abatement system are channeled to an insect collection device where they are captured and disabled.

    • A flying insect trapping device configured to be used with a fuel supply containing combustible fuel. The device may include a supporting frame; an insect trap chamber carried on the supporting frame; and a combustion device which may also be carried on the supporting frame. The combustion device comprises an inlet port for connection with the fuel supply, an exhaust port, and a combustion chamber communicating the inlet port with the exhaust port. The inlet port enables the fuel from the fuel supply to flow into the combustion chamber for continuous combustion therein to create an exhaust gas within the combustion chamber. The combustion device further includes a catalyst element disposed within the combustion chamber. The catalyst element has a catalyst body with a plurality of essentially linear elongated conduits for enabling the exhaust gas created in the combustion chamber to flow therethrough towards the exhaust port. The catalyst body includes a catalytically active material that, during operation, converts carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas to carbon dioxide as the exhaust gas flows through the elongated conduits. An insect inlet is communicated with the insect trap chamber to enable flying insects to enter the trap chamber through the insect inlet. A vacuum device communicated to the insect inlet is constructed and arranged to draw insects attracted to the exhaust outlet through the insect inlet and into the insect trap chamber.
