    • A sputtering target having an annular vault with a throat between two sidewalls and facing a substrate to be sputter coated. The vault is partially closed by a plate placed in the annular throat between the sidewalls. Thereby, the plasma density is increased within the vault. Furthermore, the position of the annular gap in the plate between the two sidewalls may be chosen to increase uniformity of sputtering deposition arising from the two sidewalls. The plate may be formed of one or more annular rings attached to the walls or a single plate having apertures formed therein may bridge the throat. Alternatively, the target may be formed as a cylindrical hollow cathode with the plate partially closing the circular throat. A rotating asymmetric roof magnetron may be combined with a hollow cathode without the restricting plate.

    • A system is described in which the Master can stop its clock and go into a low-power state (for power conservation reasons) at arbitrary times. Before going into the stopped-clock or low-power mode, the Master checks that the serial bus is idle (defined as both Clock and Data lines being “High”). A latch circuit is provided which is active when them aster is in low-power mode. The latch circuit watches for the very first negative-going clock pulse (from the slave), and its configuration is such that when latched, it holds the clock line low. Holding the clock line low prompts the slave to discontinue efforts to send the data. Stated differently, the slave will not conclude that it had successfully sent its data, and this prompts the slave to retain a copy of its data for later resending.

    • A magnetron sputter reactor having a target that is pulsed with a duty cycle of less than 10% and preferably less than 1% and further having a small magnetron of area less than 20% of the target area rotating about the target center, whereby a very high plasma density is produced during the pulse adjacent to the area of the magnetron. The power pulsing frequency needs to be desynchronized from the rotation frequency so that the magnetron does not overlie the same area of the magnetron during different pulses. Advantageously, the power pulses are delivered above a DC background level sufficient to continue to excite the plasma so that no ignition is required for each pulse.

    • A music timer comprises a timing unit, a music box unit and its mounting frame, a music control wheel (29) that has a gap (291) along its edge is driven to rotate by a driving gear through rotary axis of the driving spring of the timing unit; one end (3a) of a brake rod (3) always abuts against the edge of said music control wheel (29) and the other end (3b) extends into the damping mechanism of the music box unit to activate it when the end (3a) abuts against the non-gap places on said music control wheel, whereas when the end (3a) sinks into the gap (291) of said music control wheel, the end (3b) then departs from the damping mechanism of the music box unit, thus producing no influence on its movement. The present invention enables the timer to produce pleasant and lasting music at the end of the timing. Moreover, through the scientific spatial arrangement of the present invention, and the projected cross section of the device is much smaller than the sum of those of the timer and the music box unit.
