    • A motor vehicle steering system having first and second linkage assemblies, each pivotally coupled to a steerable wheel to exert simultaneous pushes or pulls, depending upon the direction of a vehicle turn. The first linkage assembly has an inboard end which is pivotally coupled to a first T-shaped track-inducing member which is connected to the steering box of the vehicle. The second linkage assembly is connected to a second T-shaped track-inducing member. Ends of the track-inducing members opposite to the linkage assemblies are joined by an arm. Rotation of a vehicle steering wheel causes the first track-inducing member to rotate about a vertical axis defined by the steering box. The joinder of the track-inducing members results in displacements of the inboard ends of the linkage assemblies. Because the connections at the opposed ends of each track-inducing member are out of phase by less than 180.degree., displacements of the linkage assemblies along an axis parallel to the side-to-side extension of the vehicle are dissimilar, and both the first and second steerable wheels track the turn center of the vehicle.

    • In a rear wheel steering device for a front and rear wheel steering system of a wheeled vehicle wherein rear wheels are steered by displacement of tie rods connected to the knuckles of the rear wheels and disposed in the lateral direction of the vehicle in an opposite phase relationship relative to the front wheels at least under a certain condition such as a small steering angle or a low vehicle speed, the centers of the turning radii of the rear wheels are made to coincide with each other by determining the geometry of the tie rods and the knuckle arms in such a manner that a pair of imaginary lines formed by connecting the pivot points between the knuckle arms and the tie rods to the points of intersection between a horizontal plane containing the said pivot points and the center lines of rotation of the knuckles relative to the vehicle body intersect at a point which is located ahead of the center line of the rear wheel axle. As a result, the slip angle of the rear wheels is minimized, particularly when the steering angle is great.

    • An independent wheel suspension for a vehicle wheel comprises a wheel carrier having a steering linkage lever formed on an upper part thereof, a lower control arm connected to the carrier, an upper control arm connected to the carrier and pivoted in a bearing, and a steering tie rod connected to the steering linkage lever and to a steering mechanism. The upper control arm extends longitudinally in side-by-side relation to the steering tie rod, and is pivoted about an axis which extends obliquely from a point of intersection with a central transverse wheel plane outwardly and downwardly (moving from the plane toward the bearing member). Provision is made for interconnecting two or more wheels provided with essentially identical suspensions in a serial fashion.
