    • A latch assembly is mounted in an aperture formed in a first member for releasably retaining the first member against a corresponding second member and in a latched position. The latch assembly includes a handle which is adapted for pivotal rotation. A shaft is included which is connected with the handle. The handle is adapted to facilitate axial movement of the shaft as the handle is pivotally rotated between open and closed positions. A latch is provided on the shaft which is adapted for axial movement corresponding with movement of the shaft. The latch is adapted to releasably retain the second member in engagement with the first member when the handle is in its closed position. A retaining member is also included in connection with the shaft which is adapted for securing the latch in its mounted position on the shaft. The handle also includes at least one member engaging the shaft which in operation is adapted to provide sufficient drag thereon in order to prevent pivotal rotation of the shaft relative to the handle upon mounting in the aperture in the first member.

    • For producing the bunghole barrel (1) utilized as a multiple-trip barrel, a continuously extending heating tool is placed under pressure on the border (18) of the barrel body (2) from above, and a bunghole lid (6) with an annular extension (23) molded onto the underside of the lid flange (17) and coaxial to the lid axis is placed under pressure on the heating tool.     • A safety latch for securing a cover on a machine integrating a safety swi with a latching swing bolt. The swing bolt for securing the cover pivots between a latched position and an unlatched position. The switch for energizing and de-energizing the machine is switchable between a closed position and an open position. An interlock flag must be moved to a predetermined position before the latch can be released. Moving the flag to the predetermined position causes the safety switch to open, de-energizing the machine. A portion of the swing bolt obstructs the interlock flag from closing the switch, thus preventing the machine from being energized when the cover is unlatched. The swing bolt is preferably threaded and a nut is provided to clamp the threaded swing bolt in the latched position and secure the cover. A shoulder of the interlock flag prevents the nut from being loosened unless the interlock flag is moved to the predetermined position in which the machine is de-energized.

    • A progressively set of more costly and higher level keyless locking devices secure an electric utility meter. A first low level and low cost keyless device includes a female member with spaced resilient legs which compressively converge when inserted in a plate hole and then naturally diverge to a normal state. A male locking member is inserted between the legs to lock the legs in the plate hole. A seal secures this arrangement. In a further embodiment, a female locking body is attached to a first end of a clamp ring. A second apertured ring end is inserted through the first ring end into the body. A keyless thermoplastic locking device of a first level is inserted into the body for securing the ring ends. A seal secures this arrangement. Other embodiments are disclosed including an all metal locking body used with a thermoplastic keyless male member for providing a higher security level and higher cost.

    • A rim seal for use with containers for paint having an upstanding rim at one end and a groove located radially inwardly of the rim defined in part by an inner terminal edge. The rim seal includes an annular top section disposed generally transverely to the axis of a container and providing a planar support surface when assembled to a container. An inner wall section extends downwardly at an angle from the inner peripheral edge of the top section terminating in a radially inwardly directed rib adapted to overlie and seal with the edge of the container. Also, an angular outer section depending from the outer peripheral edge of the top section includes a radial section defining a ledge, and a lower terminal axially extending wall terminating and having an inwardly directed radial circumferentially extending rib. Application of an axial force on the top section produces outward flexing of the inner and outer sections whereby the rim seal can be applied to a container by automatic assembly means.
