摘要： A watthour meter has, in one aspect, a flexible seal with a locking head carried on the meter base and a strap extending from the head and disposable in a loop around and through apertures in juxtaposed mounting flanges of the meter base and the meter dome to lockably join the dome and base. A tamper detector is carried on a blade moveably extending through the base. Movement of the blade during separation of the meter from the meter socket jaw contacts triggers the tamper detector. A connecting pin extends through aligned openings in the base and the dome to non-separably join the base and the dome. The pin engages a tamper signaling switch to provide an indication of a change of in pin state during a tamper event.

摘要： An electrical service apparatus housing carries a plurality of line and load blade terminals and jaw contacts. Surge suppression elements are carried on a circuit board mountable within the housing and are connected to certain blade terminals and jaw contacts for conducting electrical surges to ground. Insulating barriers surround the jaw contacts and, also, fixedly position the circuit board in the housing. A switch element is energized when one of the surge suppression elements changes state and provides an externally transmittable signal indicative of the change in state of one of the surge suppression elements. An insulating safety shield surrounds the jaw contacts. A light transmissive guide carried on the shield has a first end disposed adjacent to a light source on the circuit board and an opposed second end visible exteriorly through the housing to provide an exteriorly visible indication of the state of the light source.

摘要： A safety shield for an electrical service apparatus is in the form of an enclosure surrounding in the apparatus jaw contacts. Latch members formed on the shield releasibly engage apertures in the apparatus housing to mount the shield in the housing. The latch members are configured to fill the apertures in the housing to prevent disengagement of the shield from the housing during removal of a watthour meter from the housing. In one aspect, the shield is provided with wire wrap members for winding up lengths of excess cables and conductors extending from a watthour meter. The wire wrap members include a pair of arms arranged about the periphery of the shield or spaced flanges on opposite sides of the shield. The wire wrap members also include a flange having an end extending over an aperture in the shield which acts as a strain relief for a conductor extending through the shield. In another aspect, a light transmissive guide carried on the shield transmits light generated by a light generating source within the housing to a visible location externally of the housing.

摘要： An apparatus for mounting an enclosure to a watthour meter socket adapter includes a mounting strap lockingly encircleable about a side wall of the socket adapter and the enclosure connected to the strap for positioning exteriorly adjacent the side wall of the socket adapter. The interior of the enclosure is disposed in communication with the interior of the socket adapter through aligned apertures in the enclosure, socket adapter and strap for the passage of an electrical conductor therethrough. A releasable lock is carried on the strap for releasably locking the ends of the strap about the side wall of the socket adapter. In one embodiment, the enclosure includes a receiver having a first portion attached to the strap and a second wall portion. The enclosure is mounted in the receiver. Fasteners extend through the enclosure into the second wall portion for securing the enclosure on the wall portion. A removable cover is optionally provided on the enclosure to enable separate access to the enclosure. Alternately, the strap includes first and second strap portions, with one end of each strap portion connectable to the enclosure. Engagable lock members are mounted on the opposed ends of the strap portions.

摘要： A watthour meter socket adapter has front and rear housings which encompassingly surround jaw contacts, electrical conductors and terminals. Apertures in the front housing allow insertion of a meter blade terminal into the jaw contacts. The jaw contacts include a spring clip having a recess sized for slidably receiving one side of a conductor to dispose the conductor for direct contact with a meter blade terminal. At least two conductors overlay each other and are separated by an insulating pad. The terminals include a collar having a recess for partially receiving one side of a circular conductor or in the case of a rectangular bus bar conductor, a bore is offset to one side edge of the terminal collar for receiving a lower portion of the bus bar. The upper portion of the end of the conductor is folded over to form a flange overlaying a bottom portion of a first bore in the terminal collar and engages an external conductor. A surge ground frame includes a unitary terminal portion overlaying a terminal portion of the housing. A communication connector is mounted in the sidewall of the housing for external communications to the adapter. A lockable cover is provided for the communications connector.
