    • A seat back comprises a support bracket in which a stay of a head rest is inserted, a guide bracket for supporting a rear surface of a vertically intermediate portion of the support bracket on the seat back frame, a head rest tilt mechanism, and a pressure receiving member which moves rearward when pushed by the body of an occupant. The head rest tilt mechanism includes slotted brackets each having a guide hole and slide members which individually movably engage the respective guide holes of the slotted brackets along the longitudinal direction thereof. The head rest tilt mechanism drives the sub-frame so that the head rest body tilts forward while moving upward as the slide members are moved upward along the guide holes when the pressure receiving member is moved rearward.

    • The headrest cover of the present invention can be viewed as a sleeve that can be draped over the conventional headrest of a vehicle seat back. Preferably, the sleeve encloses part, or all, of the headrest. The main function of the headrest cover is to enhance the safety of the passenger by shortening the distance between the back of the passenger's head and the front surface of the headrest. The front portion of the headrest cover includes a compartment in which a plurality of shock-absorbing cushions are deployed so as to extend outwardly from the front surface of the vehicle headrest toward the region of the normal head position of the passenger. The shock-absorbing cushions are preferably arrayed substantially vertically within the compartment. The shock-absorbing cushions are configured so as to be interchangeable. The thickness, number, shape and shock-absorbing properties of each shock-absorbing cushion determine the amount of forward extension of the compartment. The user is free to select the number and type of shock-absorbing cushions that will give the optimal distance between his/her head and the headrest.

    • An automotive seat assembly is provided including a seatback and a motion translation element pivotably mounted within. The motion translation element includes a back engagement portion, movable between a back engagement stable position and a back intrusion position, and a translation portion, movable from a translation stable position to a translation actuated position in response to the back engagement portion movement. A intermediary element is rotatably attached to the translation portion, such that it is moved between an intermediary stable position and an intermediary actuated position. The intermediary element is additionally movable between a disengagement position and a engagement position. A momentum cam is utilized to move the intermediary element into the engagement position during vehicle impact. A trigger arm is positioned within said seatback and engages the intermediary element when in said engagement position. The trigger arm moves into a trigger deployed position in response to the back engagement portion entering the back intrusion position only when in the engagement position. A seatback impact response device is actuated by the trigger arm when it moves into the trigger deployed position.
