    • A metering apparatus includes at least one pair of closed cylindrical housings each housing a fluid exchange port. A metering screw penetrates each housing longitudinally and rotates, first in clockwise, the then in counter-clockwise senses during alternate cycles of the method of the invention. Hollow rods are engaged with the screws so that the screws penetrate the rods and move the rods along the screws longitudinally within the housings by screw rotation. With the rods translating in a first direction a fluid is drawn into the housings alternately through the port, while with the rods translating in the opposing direction, the fluid is expelled from the same port. Plural sets of the pairs of closed housings are used with dual channel fluid switches to move the fluid into one of each of the pairs of housing on a first half of an operating cycle, and to draw the fluid from the one of the pairs of housings on the second half of the cycle, with the pairs of housings exchanging roles cyclically.

    • A fuel pump for a vehicular diesel fuel pump member having a control valve assembly which includes a housing having a control valve chamber, and an actuatable control valve disposed in the control valve chamber. The control valve includes a piston valve body axially movable over a motion displacement interval between first and second positions. The motion displacement interval is defined by first and second sub-intervals bounded by the first and second positions, respectively. The control valve assembly further includes means for actuating the control valve. A valve stop is disposed in the housing adjacent the control valve chamber, and a piston valve body seat contacts the valve stop whenever the piston valve body is in the second position. The piston valve body seat contacts a pump body seating surface whenever the piston valve body is in the first position. A first control valve spring resiliently biases the piston valve body toward the unactuated position whenever the piston valve body is in the first sub-interval. A second control valve spring resiliently biases the piston valve body into damped engagement with the valve stop whenever the piston valve body is in the second sub-interval.

    • A liquid medicine supplying system comprises a housing 11 including a pump chamber 27, a diaphragm 28 for changing a volume of the pump chamber 27, a first flow path 31 for guiding liquid in a liquid storage tank to the pump chamber 27 and a second flow path 32 for guiding the liquid stored in the pump chamber 27 to a liquid discharge portion. A first valve body 34 for on-off operating the first flow path 31 is disposed in the first flow path 31. A second valve body 35 for on-off operating the second flow path 32 is disposed in the second flow path 32. Furthermore, a magnet 41 on the follow up side is provided in the valve body 34 and the second valve body 35. Then, in the housing 11, there are provided magnets 43a, 44a and the like cause the magnetic field to act on the magnet 41 on the follow up side, whereby the first valve body 34 and the second valve body 35 are set at opening positions or closing positions. With this arrangement, there is provided the liquid medicine supplying system having the valve devices for positively on-off operating the flow paths without forming complicated flow paths, in which the liquid turns into the valves for on-off operating the flow paths.

    • This invention pertains to a hydrostatic actuation system based on a digitally commutated, piston pump. Typically the pump is a fixed displacement axial piston pump with the hydromechanical commutator (which consists of either check valves or a rotated portplate) replaced by electromagnetically activated switches. The activation of the switches coincides with the extreme position of the pistons. The actual switching events are selected by a digital controller to effect an incremental flow rate to a hydraulic actuator. The flow rate consists of minute volumes of fluid displaced at a frequency and polarity dependent on the magnitude and sign of the rate binary applied to the controller.
