The spout member defining a vent positioned to be in communication with the flow opening when the spout member is pivoted to the flow position to permit air to pass through the vent channel. The rupture member configured to prevent fluid from passing into the vent channel.

    • A container has a body formed with an opening and adapted to hold a fluent material that can exit the body through the opening. A closure fittable with the opening is displaceable on the body between a closed position blocking flow out of the body through the opening and an open position permitting flow out of the body through the opening. Respective interengageable formations on the closure and on the body include one formation of a shape-memory material and deforming on temperature change past a predetermined transition temperature from a first deformed shape to a second memory shape. This one formation blocks movement of the closure on the body between one of the positions and the other position when in one of the shapes and permits movement of the closure on the body between the other of the positions and the one position when in the other of the shapes.

    • A closure for a liquid container, such as a sports drink bottle, includes a base component that is engaged over the mouth of the container, and a cap component engaged on the base component for movement from a closed position to an open position by pressure from the lips of the consumer. The base component includes a valve element supported on a fenestrated pedestal. The cap component includes a body defining a drinking surface for contacting the lips of the consumer and an annular sealing disc recessed below the drinking surface. The sealing disc is retained by the valve element against the force of a resiliently deformable seal disposed between the base component and the cap component. The seal has a sealing rim that is in constant contact with the base portion and provides an upward spring force to hold the sealing disc in the normally closed position. The seal includes a flexible hinge that allows the resiliently deformable seal to bow outward or bellows when the cap is depressed.

    • A cork device comprises a cork member and a control member. The cork member comprises a lower end to be inserted into a mouth of a bottle and an upper end. The lower end of the cork member including a liquid passage having a lower end communicated with an interior of the bottle and an upper end. The control member is pivotally mounted to the upper end of the cork member and movable between a sealing position and an open position. The control member includes a liquid outlet passage. The upper end of the liquid passage of the cork member is blocked by the control member when the control member is in the sealing position. The upper end of the liquid passage of the cork member is communicated with atmosphere via the liquid outlet passage when the control member is in the open position.

    • A continuous flexible conduit is formed from like-configured components, each having a male joint member and a female joint member with a passageway extending therethrough. The female joint member is over-molded about a corresponding male joint member to form a substantially fluid-tight articulating joint. In a method of producing the flexible conduit, a single-shot molding process is used to form each like-configured component, with each newly formed component indexed within the single-shot mold so that the male joint member is within the female mold cavity for the formation of the next component. In an alternative embodiment, a continuous conduit is formed of two different sets of like configured componentsnullone set having only female joint members and the other set having only male joint members. A two-shot molding process is described for continuous production of the flexible conduit using these two sets of components.
