The process comprising consecutive recycle of recovered nonene is conducted at a sequential two step temperature reaction, namely a more severe temperature followed by a lower temperature. The product prepared by this process is a useful antioxidant for lubricating oil compositions.

摘要： A carboxylate detergent prepared by the process comprising (a) alkylating a hydroxyaromatic compound with at least one alpha olefin oligomer, derived from C8 to C20 alpha olefins, to thereby produce an alkylhydroxyaromatic compound, and wherein at least 90% of the molecules in the alkylhydroxyaromatic compound have the alkyl group attached at the 4-position or higher from the terminus of the longest chain of the alkyl group, and further wherein the alkyl group comprises at least one hydrocarbon tail of at least 7 carbons; (b) neutralizing the resulting alkylated hydroxyaromatic compound with an alkali metal base; (c) carbonating the alkali metal salt from step (b) with carbon dioxide; (d) acidifying the salt produced in step (c); and (e) overbasing the resulting alkylated hydroxyaromatic carboxylic acid.

The method involves adding to the lubricating oil composition an effective amount of one or more fluorocarbon elastomer compatibility improving agents comprising one or more non-halogen-containing oil-soluble titanium complexes comprising at least one ligand selected from the group consisting of (i) an anion of a saturated carboxylic acid, (ii) an anion of an α-, β- or γ-hydroxycarbonyl compound; (iii) an anion of an α-, β- or γ-hydroxycarboxylic acid, amide, or ester; (iv) an anion of an α-, β- or γ-aminocarboxylic acid; and (v) an anion of an α-, β- or γ-keto acid.

摘要： Disclosed is a method of preparing terminally functionalized telechelic polymers using a cationic living polymer product or a terminal tert-chloride chain end of a carbocationic quasiliving polymer product, which comprises quenching the polymer product with a functionalized N-substituted pyrrole to thereby introduce the functionalized N-substituted pyrrole at the terminal reactive polymer chain end(s). A method is also disclosed whereby the N-substituent may be derivatized to a basic amine containing functional group. Also disclosed are the terminal functionalized polyisobuyl N-substituted pyrrole compounds where the polyisobutyl group is substituted at the 2 and 3 position of the N-substituted pyrrole.

The post-treated salt of a sulfurized alkylhydroxyaromatic composition disclosed herein has a reduced content of unsulfurized alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound and its unsulfurized metal salt as compared to the content, by combined mass, of the unsulfurized alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound and its unsulfurized metal salt present in the non-post-treated salt of a sulfurized alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic composition.
