摘要： The present invention relates to a method of preparing a fabric softener and to a fabric softener prepared thereby, and more particularly, to a method of preparing a fabric softener containing an esterquat by performing a two-step transesterification reaction on oil and tertiary hydroxyalkyl amine at a low temperature in a high vacuum state under specific conditions, and then quaternizing the resultant product. The method of preparing a fabric softener containing an esterquat according to the present invention can reduce the content of unconverted glyceride, glyceryl ester, or a mixture thereof, and can provide a fabric softener with excellent long-term stability.

摘要： The present invention relates to water-stable compositions and compounds formed by mixing an organosilane, optionally having a non-hydrolyzable organic group, but having one or more hydrolyzable groups, and an acidified stabilizing solution prepared from at least one acid, at least one glycol ether, and at least one cationic surfactant, preferably at least one quaternary ammonium salt (QAS), in water. The present invention also relates to methods of treating a substrate by mixing or contacting the substrate with the product, compound, or composition of this invention for a period of time sufficient for treatment of the substrate, methods of antimicrobially treating a food article, methods of antimicrobially coating a fluid container, methods of dyeing and treating a substrate, and methods of antimicrobially coating a latex medical article. The invention also pertains to a treated substrate having adhered thereto the product, compound, or composition of this invention.

摘要： The present invention relates to aqueous stable, preferably concentrated, aqueous liquid textile softening compositions comprising fabric softener active and cationic polymer in the continuous aqueous phase to provide improved softening. The compositions of the present invention preferably contain diester quaternary ammonium compounds wherein the fatty acyl groups have an Iodine Value of from greater than about 5 to less than about 140. The cationic polymers can provide additional benefits such as dye transfer inhibition, chlorine scavenging to protect fabrics, cotton soil release benefits, etc.

In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the surfactant composition is prepared by mixing N-methyl poly hydroxy fatty acid amine and N-propyl poly hydroxy fatty acid amine, and reacting said mixture with a fatty acid ester reactant in the presence of a base catalyst and, preferably, in the presence of a reaction solvent.

摘要： The present invention relates to dryer-activated laundry additive compositions and products having a color care agent and to methods for using the compositions and products. The dryer-activated laundry additive composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 50% of by weight of the composition of a color care agent having the formula:(R.sub.1)(R.sub.2)N(CX.sub.2).sub.n N(R.sub.3)(R.sub.4)wherein X, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are as defined within. Optional ingredients include a quaternary ammonium fabric softening compound, a cyclodextrin, or a perfume. Products according to the invention involved the color care composition described above disposed on a substrate such as a sheet.
